According to Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer, dogs don't have emotions. Do you agree or disagree with this? Why?

I have to disagree with Cesar on this one, love his show. But dogs do have emotions, especially a border collie. And we had a bc/mix grieve herself after we lost our chow. :(

You bet they do. Anyone who owns a dog would agree. Who ever this Cesar Millan is or any other phyco says is wrong. Don't they cry when you leave or if they get hurt. They're happen when you come home. They love to play with you.
Don't need a expert to tell me they don't have emotions. Their the ones with the emotional problems if you ask me.

Enjoy your dog he'll LOVE you for it.

My dog does. When he is sad or scared or happy or angry or confused or concentrating, etc.

People say that dogs don't feel guilt. They also say they don't remember that they have done something wrong five minutes later. That is soooo not true. My dog is proof of that. If we get home and he isn't barking at us, he has gotten into the kitchen or torn something up. He once ruined a necklace and if I showed him one of the beads from it, his ears would go back, he would lower his eyse, put his tail down and try to leave or look cute. That happened for a week after he did it.

I have 3 dogs and yes I believe they have emotions. They are happy when you are home. Sad if they dont feel well like my one female now. Playful if they want to get you to play with them. My female if left at the vets gets very stressed out being there and not home. So dogs do definitely show emotions

CM does not say that dogs don't have emotions. He says they have different emotions than humans. Which is true. Dogs live in the moment, and react to what is happening right now. They still have emotions of happy scared excited. They just move on quicker than we do.

I don't know. My dogs seem to have their own set of emotions. They don't relate on the same level as a human. That said, they do seem to be inordinately fond of adoring me. I have one that pines when I am gone too long (1/2 an hour has him howling at the door). All four of them are incredibly thrilled when their respective charges are near.
...so, yah, they have emotions. Just not the same intensity or breadth as a humans. But it is fun to imagine they are cross, etc, isn't it? ; )

Now,dont get me wrong I love watching the dog whisper, and his methods are great. But dogs DO have emotions. For example,I have a JackRussell/Yorkie mix,and he's been my lil baby boy for 3 yrs.(since he was born)and my boyfriend started coming over to my house alot more, and any time he kissed me or touched me,my dog would go crazy, because he was jealous.Dogs chew things, and tear apart the house if we leave them to long. Why is that?Because they get lonely or even mad. They get bored.Just pay attention to how your dog acts when you do certain things and you will see.

Maybe he should speak out loud instead of beating around a bush, to let the dog have an idea to what he's about, after all they are only human, or at least they think they are!

I wholeheartedly disagree. Dogs get happy, sad, mad, jealous. They can mourn themselves to death over the loss of an owner or another animal in the family.
