I've had acid reflux all of my life, so I had heartburn every day, no matter what I ate or didn't eat. I started to drink organic apple cider vinegar twice a day, and the problem has decreased dramatically. I drink about 3 tablespoons in the morning, mixed with organic apple juice, and 3 tablespoons in the evening, mixed with some other kind of juice. I didn't believe it would help, but it really has. It's not gone, but it's a lot easier to handle!

Edited to add: it does have to be organic apple cider vinegar - you can find it in health food stores if you can't find it in the grocery store. Heinz doesn't work - I tried.

1) Drink a whole glass of cold water.

2) Eat natural ginger or drink ginger tea.

3) Peppermint is said to calm the stomach.

4) Eat a handful of carrots -- baby carrots or carrot sticks.

5) Drink a quarter teaspoon of baking soda in 4 ounces of water. Icky, but it works.

6) In some cases milk or yogurt will work to neutralize stomach acids.

No. You can take antacids like Tums or Rolaids. Those do work. I would suggest getting a prescription though, to really help you if you have this often. I take medicine for acid reflux.

I take a prescriptive medication... it's too serious a condition to trust to herbs... it can even lead to death if untreated. Don't chance it!
