Yes, aspirin will lose its potency (medical term for strength) with age. That's because humidity in the air degrades the aspirin.

If you keep it dry, it should be ok. Aspirin is relatively cheap, so don't be penny wise (chewing on a 10 year old aspirin) and pound foolish (ending up in the hospital). But...if you really want to be anal, then put some dessicant (those little silica paks that come with shoes, etc.) in the aspirin container. That will keep it dry forever.

If it's not kept dry, yes.
I have used 8 year old Excedrin successfully. Aspirin is no different (if kept dry).
Milk which is much more perishable if properly cooled is OK until 3 weeks past the expiration date. Do it all the time.
Pharmacists will tell you different because they want to sell you new stuff.
With American mentality, cheese would never have been invented. lets face it, cheese is spoiled and rotten milk!
When I was brought up, we had no fridge. That taught me a lot you wouldn't even dream of, which is perfectly OK.

Look at the expiration date on the bottle. Any medication will maintain its maximum effectiveness at least until that date. Medications are "stability" tested to find out their efficacy when they sit on the shelf in their bottles. When they start to lose their effectiveness, their expiration dates are backdated to the last test date when they were tested to be at their maximum effectiveness.

The answer to your question is yes, it breaks down partially into acetic acid. You can prove this to yourself, when you open an old bottle of asprin it will have the smell of vineagar.

Yes. All medicines have an expiration date on the bottle. Throw it out if it is past that date.
