Telling you about showing here isn't really going to help you. You need to mingle with other show people - join an all breed club, attend local dog shows and meet some of the poodle people and watch the poodles in the ring, go to handling classes with your puppy. That way you'll learn about shows and showing, you'll learn how to show your dog and you can meet people who can help with grooming.

If you would like to email me with any specific questions, I would be happy to help.
You probably already know this, but Poodle grooming is HARD! A good clip can make a mediocre dog look good, a bad cut can ruin it for a good dog.
I would look for a winning Poodle breeder or handler in your area to give grooming advice. Maybe exchange grooming/handling advice for some kennel chores or something. A good mentor can be a great help.

dogs exhibits many times incorporate many events, yet maximum folk think of of the conformation opposition. the rationalization to compete against others of your breed is to ascertain that's the closest to reproduce widely used. that's the thank you to decide a dogs's ability as breeding textile. If a dogs isn't breed widely used or does not have the ideal temperament, then there is not any reason to have the wellbeing testing executed and the dogs will / should not be used for breeding. on the different hand, a great style of dogs are shown and not in any respect reproduce. exhibiting dogs is a interest, a game, and a social journey. that's a exciting interest with your dogs. and you are able to fulfill people who're definitely gaga approximately Boxers.

showing is very political. go to a local training academy and learn from the basics up. this dog will not be shown for awhile (the poodle) since it will take you some time to master showing skills.

If your dad used to show, I would think he would be the one to ask.
