There is so much more to than just saying that you believe in Jesus or that you read the Bible and go to Church, or maybe you don't go to church. But exactly what does it mean when you say that you personally are a "true Chistian?"

According to the Bible, a true Christian partakes in baptism in the name of JESUS and receives His Spirit by evidence of speaking in tongues as He gives us the ability.

What makes someone a true Christian is by confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that Christ was raised from the dead. A true Christian spends quality time with the Lord everyday, in their "secret place." A true Christian knows without a shadow of a doubt that when they die, they will go to heaven and spend eternity with God and not spend eternity in hell. A true Christian strives to be like Jesus. Yes, Jesus was around sinners everyday, but he didn't partake in the things that they did. He witnessed to them. A true Christian has compassion for the loss and pray for them daily. The Word of God says that "It is not his will (God) that any should parish, but that all should come to repentance." A true Christian loves the presence of the Lord and fellowship with true believers. Yes, Christians go through trials and tribulations, but we trust God for all of our answers. A true Christian admits that they are not perfect and that it was God's grace and mercy that touch their hearts and turn their hearts towards God. A true Christian loves the Lord with all of their heart, soul, and mind. If you have not accepted Christ into your heart, don't wait. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. You could die in your sins or the rapture of the church may take place. Ask God for fogiveness, to come and live in your heart, and mean it. Then find a church that preaches the Word and about the Cross. Please do so before it's too late.

By saying you are a "Christian" you are essentially identifying yourself as a believer in Jesus Christ. That will be defined so many different ways though because everyone has a differing opinion on just what that means. To me believing in Christ means that you accept the fact that mankind, including you, is a sinner and not meeting the requirements of salvation. You therefore accept that the shed blood of Jesus Christ, on the cross, justifies your sins and is the sacrifice for your sins and makes you justified before God at Judgment. God in turn gives His Holy Spirit as a gift to dwell within your body with your inner spirit as a guarantee and witness that your faith is real. To me that is a Christian.

Being a Christian is so much more than just saying it and going through the motions of going to church. It's having the right heart condition. Meaning that even though you aren't perfect, you try to do the best that you can. It's being forgiving and kind. It's being considerate of others. It's helping others even if they don't share the same views that you do. It's being knowledgeable of the Bible and using that knowledge to fight the forces of evil. Pure and simple.

For being a Christian you ought to be follower of Christ, but this is not enough. You follow Christ and you try to imitate Him does not make you a true Christian. Your going to Church regularly does not make you a true Christian. You say your prayers loudly; you repeat them over and again also do not make you a true Christian. For being a true Christian you have to be a kindly and humane person. By professing that you are a Christian does not make you kindly and humane. You have to love Christ. You have to adore Him and worship Him. You have to be thankful to Him for what He did for us. This alone is not enough. You must have Christ in your memory all the time and this will make you a kindly and a humane person. Then only you would be called a true Christian.

That term is often used to refer to one who is born again, wholeheartedly committed, active, practicing, serving, saved by grace alone, and all the rest of the things we humans look at to see if someone seems to know Jesus personally. Of course, Jesus Himself said that the true measure of one's religion is that he or she looks after widows and orphans. Yes, God wants faith with feet to it. Just talking about it never was enough and never will be.

That said, just doing good things never was or will be enough, either. Once has to have the faith that produces fruit that's evidence of the faith that produces the fruit that's... and on it goes ad infinitum. Both are needed.

What most people mean by 'a true Christian,' from what I've seen, is one who follows like they do. Those who do more than you think necessary are considered fanatical and those who do less are considered lazy or uninterested or not 'true' Christians.

For me, a "true christian" in my opinion has to have 3 things:

1.) Believes in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit
2.) Follows the commandments God has set for us
3.) Stand for what Jesus stood for- Truth, Love and Forgiveness

Hope that helps.

A christian is a person that is Christ like. They love the Lord and live their lives on this earth putting him first. They use God's word ( The Bible) as a guide.

You are a "true" Christian when you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you acknowledge you are a sinner and you can't live your life without His guidance. Reading your Bible and Praying help you to grow closer to Him and to become more like Him. When we believe we strive to become like Him and He enables us to grow through experience, the Word and His love.

Thats a damn good quesiton.

Is it attitude? God credited Abraham with righousness from his belief.

Is it actions? James, the brother of Jesus implied such a thing in his book, James

Is it the willingness to go do Gods will? Moses didn't want to see Pharah, but he went, reluctantly- it cost him his marriage and his 2 Sons

So, this is a start
