...and felt every darned thing that was going on. I'm having surgery again in a few weeks for a different issue...what are the chances I'll wake up while I'm getting sliced-and-diced again? Has this happened to anyone here before?

Hey, jidwg...this really DID happen and, if you'd read the link posted by one of the other people who answered my question, you'd see that this stuff can occur.

You need to talk to the anesthesiologist and explain what happened during your last surgery. Perhaps they could make special arrangements to monitor your brain waves to make sure you are really under. Unfortunately, it appears this happens fairly often.

I have a great deal of difficulty believing this really happened. The anesthetist would have noticed and adjusted the anesthesia accordingly. The pain you allegedly felt would have had a dramatic effect on your vital signs thus alerting both anesthetist and surgeon to a problem. Are you sure it wasn't a very vivid dream you had as you were waking up in the recovery room and in pain? Talk to your doctor about it,which is something you should have done the minute they took the tube out of your throat allowing you to talk, and demand an explanation if itis such a "concern".

I woke up halfway through getting all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth cut out... that sucked, because at first I couldn't move or make any noise, but I started yelling soon enough. They just held me down until they were done. Nice huh.

Make sure you tell your surgeon about this before your next surgery, and ask if you can talk to the anesthesiologist as well. If they can't make you feel comfortable about going into your surgery, look into going to another doctor.

I am afraid of this happening and also afraid of being put under period so when I had two cosmetic surgeries done on the same day I asked to be left awake. I was out of it a little on drugs and I don't think I felt any pain and I saved $1000.

Can you imagine someone getting a nose job (you ever seen it on TV, AHHH!) and talking most of the time, lol?

You may want to call a lawyer on the anesthesiologist - it sounds like they messed up the dosage. And remember that's all they do is calculate and administer the dosage. Make a stink at the hospital (talk with the director) and have a lawyer watching out for you.

You are brave to go again.

Explain to the doctor what happened last time and he will make sure that the anesthesiologist gives you plenty of drugs to stay asleep for the surgery

I agree that it feels like leg cramps. those are extra common in being pregnant. there's a university of thought that they could be led to with the help of a potassium or calcium deficiency. try eating a tumbler of miilk and a banana each and each night. I seems to have worked for me. I had one that became so so stable i'm nonetheless having stiffness in my leg an entire month on. it fairly is not exciting so i'm hoping the banana and milk works for you too.

I woke up. I was crying and telling them to stop but they didn't.
Boy did I give the H%&L the next morning.

I did tell the next anesthesioligist and Dr. next time and there was no problem at odds. I think the chances are virtually 0 that this would happen again.
