All Vehicle made always half full that's to the fill plug all fill plugs are half way its not in quarts its in pints not quarts OK level ground up to the fill plug its the only plug that's around the middle of the pumpkin or differential OK, some are in the rear cover some are on the other side depends on the type of deferential OK, even if it is front wheel drive ,find the the differential portion and its to the fill plug , this also go with filling transfer cases and all gear oil type systems even on big old trucks its always half of the unit or till it runs out or if you can put your pinky in and touch it its perfect OK always use a Muilti 80w90 and it does not half to be that grade i just said but it must be gear oil and it does not half to be Muilti, but it should it expands and foams when hot , & this is why they are half full ok always fact, unless its a ferrie the trans and differintal are in the same case and some other special performance vehicles ok other than that your good to go, great question

You fill the Differential until the oil starts to come out the single hole you are using to fill it. This has been my style for 25 years. Hasn't failed yet.
Some Diffs have a seperate drain hole and a fill which is about midway up on the case or cover plate...So don't fill it via rthe drain hole Okie dokie.
If you want specifics it should say in your spec section of the owners manual

It depends on type of vehicle, fill it only enough so when you insert your little finger in fill hole it barely touches the tip of your finger, if you fill it until it runs back out you run the risk of blowing an axle seal from too much pressure it will build up especially if vent is clogged up.

Depends on the size. Most trucks now are 3 to 4 quarts.
Cars might be 2 to 3 quarts.
F-600 will be around 3 gallons

remove the plug and stick your pinkie finger in the hole. Fill with 90w gear oil until you feel oil at just the bottom of the fill hole.
