First, breakfast at eastern market (on the metro) there's big building with open farmers market and a wonderful pancake breakfast.

Next: Hit the museums: natural history has the dinasaur
bones and the hope diamond; national gallery has the monets; and they just reopened the national portrait gallery and it's supposed to be beautiful. Then go to the spy museum and hit the gift store with lots of cools gadgets.

Walk the mall, visit Korean war memorial (haunting statutes), the vietnam memorial (sorrowful) and the Lincoln memorial. Make sure to see the white house. The national arboritum is totally cool, near the congress on the mall.

Next: Take the metro to Arlington cemetary and visit the tomb of the unknown soldiers and then JFK's grave.

On to Union station where you can catch a train to baltimore - visit the inner harbor - good food, and an amazing aquarium.

For a great steak, dinner at Bobby Vans.

Take in a minor league baseball game: there are three local teams, or a nationals game at RFK.
