Many early religions do this. At the time these rules were written there was a high mortality rate, and a village's survival depended on plenty of children. People who did not bear children were considered a burden on society, taking precious food and resources without giving back.
Now there are too many of us, and homosexuality is actually a benefit. Mankind has become a burden on the planet and there are too many of us, so there is less drive for procreation. Therefore these teachings are outdated.

All the Abrahamic religions consider homosexuality to be an "abomination in the eyes of the Lord", not "just" a sin.

The probable reasons might be:

1. following the law of survival - The primary goal of EVERY living organism is that it seeks to reproduce its species. Since queers don't, it can be assumed that they are biologically abnormal, or defective.

2. Since they don't reproduce, the only way of continuing is to corrupt others with their perversion.

On top of that, several diseases can be passed on by anal sex, even with 2 healthy individuals. Since there was no cure in the past, many people may have died as a result of queer practices.

So, the best thing is either to cure them or exterminate them. It's safest for the whole of society.

The rational is obscured by the desperation of a decaying institution.

Icarus62 has a point except that he is describing the actions of religious and political institutions in a state of decay - there is always a new religion on the rise with the purpose of uniting the fragments of all previous religions (unity in diversity)

HARAM FULLSTOP homosexuality is against the regulation against humanity. merely think of approximately it logically and which will answer the question, then think of appropriate to the illnesses unfold by it. its HARAM approximately your bible situation, that VERY exciting cos i actually asked a question on that situation, approximately Christianity and regulation and Order and that i asked why do no longer Christians have a capital punishment gadget, and that i became going I have been given answer which focused arround the subject of "turn the different cheek" that's all good in theory, even islam supplies that decision. besides the indisputable fact that Islam additionally supplies the different decision, that's capital punishment. So my question to all human beings that use "turn the different cheek" arguement and that they're going to refer it to homicide, and in theory that's quiet undemanding to assert that definite i visit forgive so and so for homicide. besides the indisputable fact that we could make the occasion greater extreme and say somebody rapes your sister daughter mom etc. Then who will rather be prepared to coach the different cheek?? So i think of that there is not any way that Christianity became all approximately "turn the different cheek" purely, and if it became then in my opinion it became an incomplete faith. playstation contained in the bible and the Quran there comes the revelation of the rustic who have been destroyed with the aid of their crime of sodomy the folk of sodom have been destroyed with the aid of it.

I presume it's all about control - Religious leaders always want to maintain or increase their power, prestige and wealth, and part of achieving that is to set absolutely rigid rules and punish transgressions mercilessly. In that way the population are kept in line, by terror of being seen in any way not to conform to the rules. That kind of oppressive system needs scapegoats, whether it be minority religious adherents, or racial groups, or homosexuals, or whatever. Religion, like politics, is thus one of the most potent forces for corruption and depravity.

"Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction."

killing is over the top and wrong. i think islam asks for 100 lashes but only if proven by self-confession or two or more witnesses. once the sentence is served person has a clear sheet to start over. repeated occurance may bring harsher verdicts.

They are still living old testament. God gave us all a free pass when He sent Jesus. "I you accept Him" Thank Him for grace and mercy that even the most horrible of all sinners are now given chance after chance. I know I'm glad, everything I've ever done would have surely gotten me killed in the old days.

Ignorance and a weak mind that can not rationalize anything seem to be the basis for all religion so you might have trouble on this one ;).
