Amtrak is great !
The Regional trains are cheaper but take longer than the Mertoliner/ Acela.

If you are going as more than one person, keep in mind that you may not get to sit together. The seating is not assigned like on an airplane, and your train may be filled up comming all the way from Boston or New York, and all the stops along the way.

Amtrak has regional service between the two. Leave the Trenton, NJ station and ride right to Union Station in DC, no transferring. The route is called the Metroliner and the trains run about once every 45-90 minutes.
