Christ tells the Laodicean congregation that it is neither hot nor cold and will be vomited out of his mouth. The congregation at Laodicea was one of the seven in Asia Minor to which the glorified Jesus Christ, in a revelation to John, addressed personal messages. (Re 1:11) At that time, toward the close of the first century C.E., the Laodicean congregation had little to commend it. Though materially rich, it was spiritually poor. Instead of the literal gold handled by the Laodicean bankers, instead of the garments of glossy black wool made locally, instead of the eye medicine doubtless produced by the Laodicean medical profession, instead of the boiling hot medicinal waters from the springs of nearby Hierapolis, the Laodicean congregation needed things like these in a spiritual sense. It needed “gold refined by fire” to enrich its personality, white outer garments to give it an irreproachable Christian appearance with no unchristian features that were as shameful as bodily nakedness. It needed to have spiritual “eyesalve” applied to take away its blindness to Bible truth and Christian responsibilities. It could buy these things from Christ Jesus, the one knocking at the door, if it let him in hospitably to entertain him. It needed to become stimulatingly hot or refreshingly cold but not to stay lukewarm.—Re 3:14-22.
Many churches today are lukewarm when it comes to spirituality.
They are like the blind leading the blind which is how Jesus felt about the religious leaders in his day.

This part of Revelation was written in the present as opposed to the rest of the book.

There were seven letters to the seven churches started by the apostles after Jesus ascension.

They were written to encourage and to let the churches know that there were some things they needed to change.

Of course these letters can and should be very relevant to todays churches in that we should keep our eye on the prize so to speak.

As to what church it could be attributed to today, I would say many different ones who want to attract members and teach only what people want to hear rather than what they need to hear.

The church in Laodicea....it had become lukewarm and therefore distasteful and disgusting..The believers didn't take a stand in anything, indifference had led to idleness. Be neglecting to do anything for Christ, the church had hardened and become self-satisfied; it was destroying itself. There is nothing worse to Jesus to a Christian that is one in name only. So, yes, it could also be referring to the church of today, and those Christians that are just wearing a title instead of a lifestyle.

The voice was speaking here telling John threw Angel that ALL religious organizations that mirrors the Laodicean congregation will have to change their modus operindi or they will suffer disapproval from God, vomiting them right out of his mouth. read further please.
He even told them how they can once again have his approval.
Now remember all of these Congregation mentioned seven of them and each has a fault they must change to the good. The only congregation that was not reproved was the congregation of Smyrna put they themselves must be very careful to stay faithful.
This was a message to all religions today...notice the reading here...
Revelation 1 verses 9-11.........

The church of the Laodicea is God's current church. A chuch that is luke-warm. It's neither Hot, nor Cold. This is how it is right before He comes. In verse 18 God gives us His counsel that will lead us to Hot, where we need to be when He returns.

Apparently he is talking to an angel located in some place called Laodicea. It all sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo and double speak to me. Ahaha, that angel in Laodicea sounds just like an agnostic for sure.
Jesus failed in his mission and no faked and unprovable resurrection is going to change that.

It's really worse to be lukewarm than hot or cold. At least the hot or cold show themselves for what they are. The lukewarm think they're on track but they are fake and dull and there is no life in them.

Read the whole thing. I hope you find modern rendition of the conversation between Moses and GOD to be humours- even if the bible DOES say what I just wrote!

Most people ARE lukewarm. Seriously- if Jesus came down to them right now, and said "OK, I need you to go to China, then Africa, and you're not coming back, ever" how many would go?

I know I'd balk and I consider myself to be a "hard core" Christian- and I know I'd try to weasel out of going just like Moses did when God told him to lead the people of Isreal out of Egypt.

Re-Read the following in the bible:

MOSES- WHERE ARE YOU? ITS A BIG DESSERT, AND I DON'T FEEL LIKE LOOKING EVERYWERE- MEET ME UP ON MY MOUNTAIN!

God, here I am!

THATS GOOD, MOSES, VERY GOOD,,,,GLAD YOU'RE HERE. ITS TIME FOR YOU TO LEAD MY PEOPLE OUT OF EGYPT! YOU READY?

uhm,,,no,,,I'm not. God, Look- I've got these flocks, and I've got a new wife, you've given me some new Sons,,and I don't wanna go! Send someone else- anyone else! Besides Pharoh wants to kill me, remember?

I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD- I MADE YOU FOR THIS MISSION. YOU'RE GOING, QUIT WHINING, SO PACK

What about Pharoh, God? He's gonna kill me!

MOSES, I AM GOD, DON'T WORRY, JUST GET PACKING TO MOVE

God? I'm not smart enough! I am slow of thought and I have a speach impediment due to ah,,,,thick tounge! I can't go!!

I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD! YOU SAY YOU'RE NOT SMART ENOUGH? THEN WHY DID I- THE GREAT "I AM" SEND YOU TO THE BEST SCHOOLS IN EGYPT WHILE GROWING UP SINCE YOU WERE THE PRINCE?

God, Look, Ok,,,Yeah, you did. Uh, I don't speak the language anymore- I can't talk with Pharaho!

I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MOSES? YOU GREW UP WITH THIS GUY WHEN HE WAS A KID? AND YOU'RE TELLING ME YOU DON'T SPEAK HIS LANGUAGE?

*SIGH* TO THINK I WASTED AN EDUCATION ON YOU FOR THIS CONVERSATION 80 YEARS AGO!

MOSES,,,,OK, FINE- YOU'RE STILL GOING. I'M GOD, AND I TOLD YOU SO. *SAID SARCASTICALLY* YOU REMEMBER WHO YOUR BROTHER ARRON IS?

Uh,,,Yeah, I do- what about Arron?

I'M GOING TO SEND YOUR ILLITERATE, NONE EDUCATED BROTHER TO BE YOUR INTERPERTER! OH, AND TAKE HIS STAFF TOO- YOU'LL NEED IT TO DO A FEW MIRACLES!

*Moses mumbles about OK, fine, I'm going to pack and leaves*
