whether you follow a religion of violence or one of peace (I'm actually not knocking any one particular religion, I think there are sub-religions in each, i.e. violent christians vs. peace-loving christians, violent Muslims vs. peace-loving Muslims, etc.)

I don't believe God EVER tells us to kill for Him.....let's see, "Thou shalt not kill" comes to mind for some reasons. I know some religions do say that they kill for their god, but as a Christian, I don't think that way.

Here's an example,The Caananites were doing all kinds of horrible stuff. They would sacrifice their 1rst born to Molech by laying the baby on the red hot outstretched arms of the Idol. They would often commit beastiality, homosexuality(Sodom and Gommorah).Human sacrifice and eating the body. That's where we get the word Cannabal from,it means "Priests of Baal"another false God.Anyway God gave the Caananites(the original inhabitants of Israel)450 years to stop it and change their ways, they didn't so that's why when they came out of Egypt the Israelites slaughtered them.God said they had totally polluted the land with their filth(disease ,sexual and otherwise was rampant)and it needed to be cleansed. That's why they weren't to intermarry with them otherwise they'd bring their nutty religion and bad genetics with them. Now days we can't use that excuse but we can defend ourselves and prevent an attack.

killing per se, in a contemporary society is a hot potato. so to ever entertain thoughts of doing so, is best avoided. but it doesn't go away, huh? thus to answer your thoughts, how would you know that God ordered the killing for him to be pleased? always obey a direct order from God and until you talk to him personally, then do it. (that's being absolutely fatalistic). and then, morals, which results from civilized people living together, dictates the standards and by coming out with a basic statement that they think instills fear in men, drops the name of God for more emphasis.

In Judaism, HaShem is without kind, won't be able to be divided into factors, won't be able to be restricted interior a particular area, and is without gender. All descriptions of HaShem in the Tanach (Jewish Bible), are symbolic, no longer literal. for instance, HaShem does no longer have human thoughts and for this reason isn't actually jealous, indignant, and so on. HaShem created each and every thing in life, both good and undesirable. HaShem states that all and distinctive everybody is born good and chance free and the blunders we make in existence are basically opportunities to learn and improve via the correction of those blunders. He would not anticipate perfection in human beings and is thoroughly basically, for this reason, She would not condemn those who've made blunders in existence to eternal damnation. Jews trust that each and every human being can talk on to HaShem and there is not any choose for intercession on their behalf. the conception of a literal toddler of HaShem is an abomination in accordance to Judaism. In Christianity, their established god is made up of three different entities; Father, Son, Holy spirit. also, one in each and every of their god's angels rebelled and got here to conflict their established god for the souls of human beings. The Christian god demands perfection yet Christianity teaches that as human beings won't be able to be proper because they're sinful from beginning, one ought to ask their god's son for intercession on their behalf. Judaism, it really is strictly monotheistic, does no longer see Christianity as actual monotheism because of the Trinity idea as well to the devil idea, neither of which exist in the teachings of Judaism.

The difference is that these are opposing statements. The greater question is how do you know it is God that is asking you to kill for Him? I really don't think God needs our help to kill people he wants dead, do you?
