I've known this guy for about 8 months. We're really just acquaintances. He brings work to my department. I see him everyday for just a couple of minutes. He's always kind of joked with me. Flirted a little here and there. Winked a couple of times, after a work related conversation with a really big smile. But when I try to get close to him he backs off. He has looked into my eyes and down at my lips I feel as if on purpose before. Sometimes when he drops off work he'll just look right into my eyes for like 5 seconds. But after backing off for weeks. He's back to just being friendly to me. After not making eye contact at all now he's doing it again. Is he confused or what? Or does he just want to be my friend? Or does he just want sex and he feels that's not what I would want so he's afraid of hurting me. So that's why he backs off? Whenever I get an inch closer he backs off a mile. Then the cycle starts again. Where he can look at me again. It's so confusing for me

I mean if a guy isn't interested so they back off when they think you might be. Why flirt again? It just doesn't make any sense. If I don't like a guy and I think he likes me. I won't give him any signs I like him. And if I do once I back off that's it. I'll just be nice but not flirty at all. I even feel like he's tried to make me jealous before.

Well first of all.. having a relationship within your work place is not a good idea. Idle gossip causes alot of problems amongst your peer. In some companies. there is a policy for not dating another person in the work place. Also.. the chance you take if the relationship does not work. out.. it would be difficult for you and he to continue the work you both had been doing.. due to the stress level of the breakup causing a conflict in interest as far as the employer is concerned. Second thing.. is, dont read too much into these mixed signals you think you are receiving from him.. If you both are adults, he or you should just clear the air and someone make a move. Ask him or he should ask you out. Trying to decypher someones intentions by the look in their eyes or smile is sometimes dead wrong and sometimes so right. So why gamble. Muster up enough nerve to just point blank ask him to go and see a movie with you sometime. Worst thing that could happens is he rejects you. Life is full of rejection. Good luck. PS.. check on the company handbook before you do anything to find out if its taboo to date a fellow employee. Might save you some heartache in the end.

he's playing with you. some people are chronic work flirts, and do it to make the day go by faster. i've been there and done that. just be nice and polite, and do your work. if a man is interested in you, he will ask you out. yeah, yeah i know about the sexual harrassment laws and all, but that's not what's holding him back. some people play these "push/pull" games with you. a man will reel you in, and just when you get a little close, they push you away. they're not interested in a real relationship. who knows, he could be married. besides, workplace romances always end badly. let it go, and just be polite and professional.
