A lot of different Christian sects believe that during the mass, the bread and wine literally become the body and blood of Jesus Christ through the miracle of Transubstantiation. This is also a very, very old pagan practice of binding a student to a master by eating a piece of him/her. If you do believe in this everyday miracle, please share some thoughts of yours about it.

What's this jive about "Substance Theory"? (that's what this is called right?) Does that mean that we call a spoon a spoon because it is materially what we ascribe to be a spoon, but who's real substance is the substance of God? Could this substance be what Jesus called the Holy Spirit?
Does that mean that, definitively, there is no spoon? Just a funny after thought, but worth thinking about, no?

i recall that catholics certainly subscribe to this, applying it to the Eucharistic sacrament. how much is metaphorical or how much is metaphysical depends on the individual, i guess.
i wish i knew more. it's rather an interesting topic.

Yes, I believe in the Transubstantation of the Eucharist.
I believe that the Bread & Wine Become the Literal Presence Of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
It Is By the Power of the Holy Spirit, that this Takes Place.

I don't. It's absurd and there is no basis for it scripturally. When Jesus said "take eat and drink" it was a metaphor. It was wine and bread; he did not take a knife to Himself and suddenly condone cannibalism. Did Jesus have wine for blood and bread for flesh? He must have, otherwise why do the crackers and wine still taste like crackers and wine? Nothing but an ill-founded religious tradition created by people, not God.

No. The Lord Jesus Christ died one time for the sins of the world. You are not eating His body or drinking His blood but it is only a symbol. 1 Corinthians 11: 23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 1 Corinthians 11: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 1 Corinthians 11: 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

Have you heard of Transmigration of the Soul? It's a Druidic (I think) belief on reincarnation. People come back to Earth along their family lines, I think that's how it goes. As far as Transubstantiation, would mayo and honey-wheat bread be better for Christ's flesh?

Jesus never wanted us to think of it as His actual flesh and blood. At the last supper He said "Take eat this is my body"His flesh was on Him"Take drink, this is the blood of the New Covenant"the blood was coursing through His veins, then He said"Do this in REMEMBARANCE of me"it's the same as in John 6 and 7 when he said "you must eat of my flesh and drink of my blood"Many diciples turned away, then He said "The words I use are Spiritual"and He asked Peter "Will you turn away also?"Peter said "No way,Jose"so to speak.See? It's a spiritual thing, just as the Passover lamb represented His dying for us.
Hey,Mel up there can we do it just until we need glasses?

difficult suitable - once you're talking approximately Paul rebuking Corinth, this had not something to do with the mass, or perhaps the celebration of HIS Sacrifice. The verse which you quote in John 6:19 is barely a photo of all that got here approximately, over the previous supper. If we glance on the Bible and this is verses, we can't isolate the verse and make it characterize a controversy. Now, in case you will possibly desire to show to (I placed brackets around keywords to concentration on): Luke 22:19 "Then he took the bread, mentioned the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, asserting, "This [is] my physique, which will take transport of for you; try this in memory of me." Mark 14: 22-24 "And whilst they have been eating, Jesus took bread; and blessing it, he broke it, and gave to them, and mentioned: Take it. This [is] my physique. And having taken the chalice, giving thank you, he gave it to them. and that all of them drank of it. And he mentioned to them: This [is] my blood of the hot covenant, which would be shed for many. so as you will discover, Jesus mentioned this "IS", not this symbolizes, or this represents. Jesus additionally states that except you consume of His physique and drink from His blood, you shall not have eternal life. it is why some followers have been astounded while HE mentioned this. The observe "consume" that grew to become into used grew to become into greater of the chewing/gnawing sort of eating. Many understood precisely what Jesus grew to become into asserting, yet could desire to not understand... "how is this accessible? how can Jesus say that we could desire to 'consume' of his flesh?" Jesus is amazingly sparkling in this remember. it is why we, as Catholics be responsive to that transubstantiation occurs.... using fact HE tells us... "it is"

Yes I believe completely in it. It is a Catholic teaching and belief. Christ Himself said,"Unless you eat my flesh and drink My blood you will have no life in you..."
