If you are wanting free stuff, just go to freecycle.org . Find the one for your area. Everything has to be free or it can't be posted on the freecycle groups. Not only can you get free stuff , but you can also post stuff you want to get rid of yourself. I have given tons of stuff away from clothing to furniture. Plus, I got two matching desks from a lady just yesterday. You never know what people will post. It is free, legal, no spam, no s/h, no hidden bs and you can help the landfills at the same time.

The only company that has ever done this for me was Red Lobster after they lost my order ticket and the food wasn't done for an hour and 20 minutes. This was a to go order by the way. They sent me a 20 dollar coupon which was good of them. Most companies don't give a $hit about customer service nowadays.

I have never received anything back after complimenting companies, but I have received responses with coupons and gift certificates many times after sending thoughtful, professional complaints with lots of specifics. The most generous one was Red Lobster, which refunded the entire price of a meal for two with a gift certificate and a plea to return to their restaurant at a different location, along with apologies for my bad experience.

At a local eatery recently I recieved horrible service and when i complained to the manager he was a real smartass with me. So I called corporate HQ. Got a $25 gift certificate and an apology. When I went for me free food I found out that manager was no longer there. The girl who waited on me previously profusely apologized to me as well and of course I graciously accepted. I suspect that manager treated his employees like dirt since the whole attitude of the staff was way more upbeat on my second visit. Im a former waiter so I know how it is

I have called laundry detergent companies (like Kimberly-Clarke) and just asked for coupons.
I have had to have products replaced because they were not up to standards, like Pringles being completely crushed, powdered laundry detergent being stuck in really hard lumps or chunks. But they were all legitimate complaints.
I called one time to compliment a company about some kind of air freshener and they sent me some coupons (not for free product, but for like $1.00 off or something)
So yes, they do respond to calls. Just make sure if you are calling to complain, you aren't jerky about it. Every time I've ever had to complain about a product the person I spoke to was pleasant to me because I was pleasant to them. It's not their fault you got a faulty product afterall, they are simply answering the phone:)
