Congrats to you first...assuming you are talking about your own baby.
I dont know if the family has traditional practice for first month celebration. Best is to ask your mother-in-law or your mum for ideas. Just in case over zealous grandmas get offended for not being asked for opinions.
My relatives usually just do things like sending the full month cake cards to all close relatives. More traditional ones may choose to do the red eggs by themselves and send them personally.
Then maybe a buffet at home inviting friends and family over to celebrate and gather to chat.
Some richer ones may do the baby shower in the restuarant.
Depending on to what extend you want your celebration to be, at least start with a guest list and check your budget.
Thats all I can suggest to you...

First you must work out your budget.
Then you must get the list of guest you want to invite.
Based on the budget and the no. of guest you inviting, then look for venue. If there's budgets, then plan for the door gift.

I assume you are Asian and from Singapore? ;)
Well, if you need to plan for that, you must be in confinement now... if that is the case, you must be quite free when your baby is sleeping ;) So you could probably start planning during your free time...
Few things you need to do..
1) Decide if you:
- want to celebrate at all
- how many people do you want to invite
- where you want to hold it
- who is cooking
- do you want to have red eggs
- do you want to give out cakes or buy cake vouchers to give out?
- if you do, do you want to give them to everyone or just your relatives? (Would be best to seek parent's advice for this one)
- when you want to hold it (most pple hold on wkends, not exact dates)
Then.. just like your wedding, you do up your guest list and you email, call, sms your friends to inform them when done...
Dun worry about over inviting. Usually first month celebration is a whole afternoon event.. so your friends will come and go...
And then you decide wat foods you want to serve and wehther you want to cook. If you don't, check up caterers either over the net or get recommendations from people. If you want, my cafe does catering as well, you can email me at verityy@yahoo.com for details.
Then just relax and enjoy the day. Be sure to get some helpers to clean up after like your husband, your mother, mother in law, your brothers and sisters or some close friends because it can be quite tiring for you.
Would be best if you have a room for children to sleep in or play in if you are at the age where everyone is also giving birth or has given birth ;)
For me, I did it twice.. once at my place in the afternoon and once at my in laws place at nite cos my father in law wanted to invite too many people and I dun think they can all fit into my humble hdb flat ;)
The advantage of tat is that when me or baby feel tired, I can just say, "Baby is tired..." so we can go home while the party still goes on and the guests stay happy ;)
I guess tat should be as much advice as I can give based on my own experience ;) Good luck and congrats!
If you need/want to share more mommie tips, email me at verityy@yahoo.com ;)

I know you're excited about being a new mommy but that's taking it just a bit too far.
