There are about 80 gospels that were dropped from the bible by King James because he didn't like them. This is why most bibles today are called the King James " version". Look at some of the others and you will be surprised at what Jesus did!

Well, there already are lots of other books that either weren't included in the bible or were dropped because of the religious orthodoxy that had become hardened in the first feww 100 years of the Jesus cult. Furthermore, the books that were included were edited and revised to conform to the evolving nature of Christ. The earliest Xian writings clearly refer to Jesus as a man, not a god or man-god. It is only in the later writings that the concept of god born to a mortal was tacked on. I'm ignoring completely the fact that there is almost no historical evidence that a real Jesus actually existed, although presumably there was an origianl role-model who inspired the myth.

The King James Version that many fundies hold so dear, was first published in 1611..almost 400 years ago, but more importantly...4 times that time-span after the alleged events. Kind of difficult to get an accurate report on something that happened within the past 50 years...so how accurate do you think that particular translation is, in the days when news spread by word of mouth??? If you've ever played that "whisper" game...where someone whispers something in the next persons ear, and so on, and so on, you know how accurate the "oral tradition" of reality is.

Another thing that always troubles me is when the apologists say that we have to interpret the bible, and that some passages were mistranslated, some were factual but some were allegorical (but they reserve the right to decide which is which)

If a god truly existed, and he wanted to communicate with his creation in a clear and unambiguous way...it seems an all powerful god could come up with something more impressive than a book written by sandal and robe wearing Semitic fishermen. And even if he did decide for his own "mysterious" reasons that really was the best way to get his message across, you'd think he could just talk in plain language that was not open to interpretation, and be succinct enough that anyone could read through it at one sitting. Why not write everything down by carving it in the side of a mountain in mile high letters or something equally spectacular....pretty clear that no man could have done it. we'd avoid all these argument between believers and atheists. Chapters in a book can are just too easy to forge, or redact , or not include by "evil" man for his own purposes....whom god apparently allows to run loose because of that precious free will thing.

So, ranting overwith for now, the answer to your question is nothing would happen, because religious "knowledge" is faith-based, not fact-based, and the dogma is fixed.

You should know that there are dozens of gospels and other books which could have been included in the bible. The Churches gathered at Nicaea and decided which texts would and would be included in the Bible, so we have a sanitized text in any case. For example in the Gospel of Thomas the story is related of how Jesus, when a boy, killed another boy who bumped into him. To include that in the bible would not have advanced the fledgling religion. There are something of at least 23 gospels which were omitted. Even some of the gospels which were included were edited such as the gospel of St. Mark where 12 verses were deleted. Check out the links below for more data. So the answer to your question must be that even if books were found which made the points you have stated it is likely that they would be ignored or suppressed by the Church.

There are additions to the Bible; contrary to 2 Tim. 3:16-17.
One of them, violates 2 Tim. 2:15; the addition, I call it an index
which wrongly divides the Bible into Genesis-Malachi, (old testament) and Matthew-Revelation (New testament).. The scriptural old testament was done away(Hebrews) when Christ died on the cross. The scriptural old testament was the law of Moses (KJV) called old testament 2 Cor. 3:13-14.

Check out Ratbrain's answer. Pretty on the mark given that the bible was hugely edited prior to publication. Mary Magdalene's gospel was completely deleted from the final text.

Have a look at
Gospel of Judus Iscariot (he wasn't a bad guy after all)

This makes much more sense to me than the other version.

Interesting concept, but still the answer is no! their is no others.

Anyone who attempts to change the words of the bible from Gods own words will die, as it is written.

Then some Christians might stop believing in him and mock us Jews because he was a gay Jew even though he isn't gay.
