Matthew 4:1-7 -- The Temptation of Jesus
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread." Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God, and serve him only." Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.' " Jesus answered him, "It is also written: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.' "

Matthew 4:8-11
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. "All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me." Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.' "
Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

Christians, do not become upset. For it is when you are at your strongest, and at your weakest, in your faith, that Satan will send his followers to tempt and taunt you.

Anybody who DOESN'T harrass Christians, please ignore this. If the shoe fits, wear it.
The point is that Christians should realize that even Christ was tempted in the very same way. All of this is nothing NEW.

Just like Satan, eh. In more of a contemporary fashion at least. Not many Christians are going to fall for the red suit and horns routine. It's the reasonable well dressed and affluent that has taken and replaced this grab. Yet we both know, don't we. Out there, maybe even tonight; He'll know. Oh yes, once it's out there it's not easy to see beyond the new veneer. Like the Virgina Creeper, even patience. Relentless of course. Time is meaningless to one so old. Smiles now are to be wary of when the suited Man wants a moment of your time. Logic and reason, what a fine brace of pistols; a dozen reasons why you shouldn't believe as you do. The only shield the Faith, defier of such frail ordinace. All logic and reason removed, the Faithful walk the path; free of this new suited man; oh we know him not by his cloth but by his blackened heart. Still, never vanquished; vigilance is ever needed. When logic and reason rear their menace towards you use Faith. It sustains all! One can believe anything with Faith. Through our Prayers alone God could ride a unicorn threw space again! But beware, listen not to what makes sense, it is the path to eternal darkness; lakes of liquid fire; and they put you beside some terrible person too! Go with God Christian, I wish you well.

It will never cease to amaze me that so many can be so eager to blindly follow flawed tradition. It was the Pharisees that were tempting Jesus to conform and stop stirring up contentions, stop telling the people to wake up. They offered him rulership to dissuade his activities because he was disrupting their financial base. The author used the term "Satan" as a euphemism to vividly describe the devicive Pharisees.

If your going to quote scripture, at least spend some time with the secular research that puts the texts in their proper perspective.

Christians still believe today what they believed a century ago and so on. They staunchly adhere to these beliefs and abhore any challenging concept. I call this stagnation. This is contrary to the one constant of the universe, growth. Simple Logic.

When you harass people of any creed, race,or gender that is not a good way to learn from each other. We ask questions, we give answers. we choose the answer that gives us the understanding. No one should be accused of acting like Satan.
And if you will present Matthews writings just to prove your point we are not helping each other here.

I would never harass Christians. But on the other hand don't ask me what I think of Christianity or religion because I might not give you the answer that you want me to.

Behold the greatest excuse for xenophobia ever made. "Anyone who questions you or your faith is an agent of Satan!" How incredibly convienent.

And of course, completely unprovable. I don't care what a book written by a bunch of desert nomads says: Show me evidence of your claims.

You really don't realize that you are quite insane, do you?

I am offended by stupidity, willful ignorance and self delusion... which pretty much sums up the Abrahamic death cults of desert monotheism (Judaism, Christianity, Islam). It offends me to know that three-quarters of the population of the USA are infected with some sort of insidious mental virus that leads them to the insane certainty that the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a bunch of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders represent some kind of cosmic 'TRUTH' about fundamental aspects of existence and reality. It offends me that so many people dwell in a delusional reality consisting of an imaginary magical universe which contains a 6,000 year-old earth and heaven, a solid 'firmament' structure (the sky) separating the earth from heaven (terrarium earth), talking snakes (with legs) and donkeys, a shepherd staff that turns into an asp, demons chased out of people and into pigs, friendly spirits, evil spirits, walking on water, multiplying loaves and fishes, food falling from the sky, conception by a ghost, people raised from the dead, the sun stopping in its tracks, parting seas, people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the 'other side' of the sky), world-wide flood that drowned the earth to a depth of 40 feet above the tallest mountain, creating people from a dust bunny and a rib, a magical tree of knowledge, god speaking from a burning bush... and ritual cannibalism, by eating god in the form of a cracker.

In a sane world, anybody running around spouting ANY of that crap, would be locked up in the State Farm for the Funny. Apparently, though, mass insanity seems to convey some sort of free pass for the loony.

It offends me that in our society, such irrational, deluded people as these are permitted to vote, procreate, and shape the minds trusting, vulnerable children.

You dare to suggest that people who DON'T believe all of that ludicrous crap need help?

Get a grip.

What do you call writing all this down for us to read, which is long and tedious by the way, called if not harassment? You put this all down for us to read, call us satanist, and then expect a decent and moral answer from us? Hello? I think you are the one that needs to reread the bible and try to understand the true meaning instead of "preaching" to us.
