I've really been trying to lose weight and I eat about 1000 calories a day (lately its been more but I've been vacationing). I run Cross country as well but I just can't lose those last five pounds. I'm 14 and used to weigh like 140 so I've come a long way over the course of a year but I still feel fat and unnatractive and the only people that notice my weight loss are my close friends and relatives, not the people that I want to notice. So is 105 for a 5'2'' girl thin enough?

For one thing 1000 calories a day is not enough. Anything below 1200 (ESPECIALLY IF YOUR RUNNING DAILY) makes your body go into starvation mode which will actually make you HOLD ONTO FAT instead of burning it.

Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women.

BMI Categories:

* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

You are at 19.2.....which is the lower end of normal weight. Any more weight loss and you will be underweight. What you need to do is start strength training 3 or 4 times a week. This will help tone up your flabby areas, burn fat, and build muscle. Start eating healthy foods and lots of protein. I calculated your caloric needs and you need AT LEAST 1500 calories to keep your body healthy and maintain your weight. If you go under this you are just starving yourself and any weight loss will be unhealthy and will come back when you continue to eat healthy.

You feeling unattractive probably comes from being a little chubby before. You need to get over that. You are only 14 and in great shape and you have so much ahead of you, you shouldn't be worrying about this. Continue exercising, eating right, and loving you body and you should feel better.

It's definitely thin enough, it's borderline too thin. First of all you are young and your body is still maturing, especially physically. You should never try to make yourself look good for anyone other than yourself. It really is bad for you because if your trying to stay in shape you could fall back on a binge and actually start gaining weight. I know how hard that can be to not be noticed by the people you want to notice you. And as hard as it might be to swallow, it's their loss, even if it seems like yours right now. Don't overanalyze everything you eat or do, life will soon it's fun quickly. The best thing I can tell you is either those people will come around or they wont, and if thats the case you uber better off without them. Last but certainly not least, go out and exploit your own happiness. Go to a party or do something fun to celebrate how far you've come. It takes a lost of discipline and patience to reach certain weight goals. Most people who stay in shape all the time or who have never lost a signifgant amount of weight can never understand truly how difficult it can be. Don't lose anymore weight, especially right now. Your alright. Give yourself a big pat on the back and take in the new you. :)

Eat healthy and well rounded meals full of fiber and pulses etc, exercise but dont over do it. And dont obsess over how thin you 'should' be!
What's more attractive- a person full of life who looks after themselves but can have a laugh, enjoys life, OR somebody constantly having a low opinion of themselves, watching every calorie they eat when they go out. Thats what people are going to notice!
Its mainly about changing ur impression of whats attracive and i think im 100% sure that being skinny wont make u more attractive to others if its more a mental perception u lay on yourself.
Be proud of what u've achieved in a year, thats fantastic! but now live for the moment and stop focusing on what others think- u know u've done well, so enjoy it, and enjoy life! Ur fit, healthy and there are so many others a lot worse off than you!

Actually, if you're 5'2 and weigh 105 pounds.. you have a BMI of 19.2.. which is RIGHT where you need to be.

If you lose those 5 pounds, you'll have a BMI of 18.2, which is underweight.

You're at a normal weight right now, so you should stay so you don't make yourself sick.

Nowadays, it seems like you want to be thinner and thinner even if you're already underweight. You're fine, though. You shouldn't be so self-conscious.. I'm sure you look great.

If you're 5'2" and 105, then you're underweight. At 14 you shouldn't be too concerned with your weight as you are still growing and developing. You don't need to lose those last 5 lbs. There's nothing left to lose so your body will fight you. The lowest you should be at your height is 110.

You should not measure who you are by what other people think. You will never be perfect enough for some people. I bet at 140 lbs. you looked healthy. Have you seen that Richie girl's photos? Anorexia is just like that, and it is not pretty. Pretty is as pretty does. Focus on some underprivleged children, do something for others, and soon, it won't matter what the scale says, you will be satisfied with the person you are. God bless, and you are special......

Goodness! You're fine!

When I was your age and size I was in the low 90s and that was waaaaay too thin. Like you, I was very active. I knew I was too thin. I was just too busy to eat. Now I'm 46 and, trust me, I'm no longer too thin.

To reassure yourself, look at the body mass index here:

You've also made a lot of changes to your life in the past year. Perhaps you need to make time to make changes in how you feel about yourself. Perhaps your weight changed but your feelings about yourself didn't?

If you still feel like you need to lose weight, please talk to your doctor about the right way to continue, ok?

If I were 15 I''d like to put you in my shirt pocket and take you home. That's a fine weight and height for your age.

105 lbs. in fine for your weight. Try to focus more on your running instead of your weight. My daughter is bulemic and is obscessed with her weight. Don't let that me your main concern.

Do not become obsessed about your weight, and if you are starting a weight loss obsession, get help now!!! I am telling you this, because I was once in your shoes. I have been battling bulimia for over 20 years now, because I always wanted to be thinner. But looking back, I was never really overweight. People will notice you for what is inside. You are definitely thin enough, please do not endanger your health by trying to lose more weight. If this is already out of control, please, I cannot stress enough, get help now!
