my suggestion, don't worry, don't rush (if you don't suspect any physiological problems, if you do, don't delay seeing the doctor)
take her to the park
give her room
she will run when she's ready
I had one child that wouldn't hardly walk until he was 18 months old because he was such a great crawler. Why try that unsteady 2-leg stuff (he seemed to think) when crawling works so great. That boy could crawl at an adult walking speed. He finally realized there were advantages and started walking like anybody.

An interesting question!! You know, I've never thought of that, it just seems to happen. I suppose chasing games may be a good one.
Maybe there is some literal truth in the old saying "You have to learn to walk before you can run."
Actually, come to think of it, our son used to run along behind his a push along toy before he ran on his own. May be, it gave some security as he had something to hold on to. Learn how to treat grazed knees as well.

trust me, don't force her. She will do it when she is ready. Once she does start running, you are going to wish that she never started. I know that. My daughter started walking at 9 months and started running at 13. It's been a mess since then. Have fun and remember to keep patient..

Let her develope at her own pace. She is walking so be thanksful for that. she will be even harder to keep with if she is always running. Believe me, she will wear you out first so enjoy her while she is little..they grow up way too fast. You will wake up one ay and she'll be 18 and you will wonder where all the years went.

She is overdue for that. I would speak to her pediatrician and see how you can have her evaluated for a delay. Don't take the pediatrician's "Oh, just wait..." You already suspect a problem. It is better to have her evaluated and find out if there is a problem and what can be done, than it is to wait and be sorry that you didn't do something sooner. I know because my pediatrician felt my soon was speech delayed. We had him tested and he did test for services. He is doing so much better now, I can't believe it! Did the services get him talking or did it happen on its own? I don't know, but the services didn't hurt him at all.

I would have her checked out at her doctor's to ensure all is well but it sounds as if your daughter is just developing at her own rate. Perhaps you can play a few games with her in the garden to get her moving a bit more but this isn't really something you can push.

Good God.
This must be your first kid and you must be a white woman in the suburbs with a husband who is an engineer.
The kid WILL learn to run when she's damn good and ready. Chill freakin' out.

no, she will run in time. don't worry about it. at least she is walking "fast." she is probably not ready yet. my daughter is 13 months and she is walking "fast." if she tried to run, she'd fall flat on her face.
