The presence of illegals in California has nothing to do with its high costs. Both the West and East Coasts of the United States are high cost because people want to live here, so therefore real estate costs are high. How else can you explain a 3 bed, 2 bath starter home with less than 1300 square feet be worth $325,000. And that's the price in the Central Valley, not the pricey coastal areas.

Also the cost of produce, dairy and other agriculture products at the grocery store is not controlled by the producers (farmers, dairy producers, etc.) but by those higher up (the middle men.) There are many layers of middlemen between the land and the store and they all jack the price up.

It's because they spend too much, and have made many programs have to be in the budget!

Almost all of this is due to the "Majority Rules" Referendums, which I believe are unconstitutional!

California has the 3rd largest economy in the world and they still can't make it!

Also, states are different than the government! They can't print money and they can't run a deficit!!

Real estate is a different subject from immigration...

Quit whining and stop blaming Mexicans for this...

Get some facts, stating your opinions doesn't make 'em true..

California is a rich state and it's because of it's diversity and hard-workers...

Illegals don't reduce the cost to consumer ... illegals swell the coffers of corporations, who certainly don't distribute any of the wealth back to the consumers ... all the pro illegals do is make sure big business has an underclass of people to pick and choose from ... some humanitarians they are, helping re establish slavery ...

Prices are up in everything else to help offset the cost the states pay in tax paid assistance that supports the freeloaders. Higher costs in real estate and other things means more taxes, to support them. TAXES YOU PAY!!

The most productive real estate in the world.
