God will collect all the Christians His hands are very big...no need for ships...

It is a theory about what will happen to the Christians before the 2nd(Glorious) coming of Jesus. There are three major theories.
The most popular right now is the Pre-Tribulation theory. That those who are "saved" will be taken away or "raptured" before the time of the Great Tribulation. A period of great upheaval and war just Before Jesus returns.
There is also the Mid-Trib theory and the Post Trib theory. Mid is self explanatory. Personally I see the scripture from 1 Thessalonians 4 that says:
15 According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. and take it to mean that the coming of Jesus and the "taking Up" are at almost the same time. But I am not even a theologian so I will wait and see.

Rupture is for those who live at the end time.The dead will ressurect but those who live will be transformed into spiritual bodies that will be eternal and everlasting.1cor 15:52-55.Not abduction but spiritual transformation of physical body by God of all creations.The Creater of the universe has a plan for this material world to get united with God through mankind and to be like Jesus, which could be called Christogenesis.The matter is transformed into eternal spirits.

the rapture is the biblical term for the coming of Christ. Its when e is going to come back and summon all of the christians and saved to live in peace and eternity. Nothing to do with extraterrestrial though.

To me that whole thing seems to be people who needed something exciting in their life to talk about with each other and to tell other people about but sometimes it seems as though some of the people actually wholeheartedly believe it will happen and that is absurd to me but whatever.

Not quiet..this is when Jesus will call God's followers up to be with Him in Heaven..and that is when the antichrist will be revealed...in this time wrath will be poured out on the earth.
