I do not consider myself religious but one who believes in God and I like to ask and have answers about what I believe in...not hear rude gesture. I dont agree with other religions but I dont go out of my way to be nasty about it. God made us to have our own free-will ..to chose him or not...he is not forcing us to serve him. We are not to judge but be witnesses of his love..I haven't seen in here where christians have made jokes and asked the wicca religion .. why they worship trees or why hasn't their spells worked lately? nor the off branch of wicca.. dianic why or if they r predjudice against males? since its only women worshipping a mytholigical woman which is daughter of a planet (jupiter) or scientology. What did u come back as? etc. If that is their belief fine, but then I was thinking if religious people do not like christians, why are they so eager to make a sarcastic or rude reply if the dont want to hear or read about a christians god, why even upset yourself by replying?

Almost all religions teach kindness and almost all of them have a simular code of ethics that are to help a person get to a heaven and to be a better person on this earth.

Joseph Cambell's famous comment "One man's myth is another man's religion" applies here.

esp the Budhists, the Sufi, the Bahai, I could name more , but these are very high on kindness.

I am 2nd generation Irishman in America, and I grew up Roman Rite Catholic. And I am holding my Christianity by a thread, esp when looking at creed and the neo-Fundamentalist Southern Baptists.

Many of the wiccans and other neo-pagens feel the pain of their ancestors loosing ground to Christianity. If you want to see a great story or read about it see the movie "the mists of avalon" or read "forest house" by Marion Zimmery Bradley.

It is also here where you get a sense of a people at sword point transfering their worship of the goddess to worship of Mary, to a less powerful veneration of Mary and a worshiping of Christ and a sense of loss of their ancestors.

although the historical details are lost, Bradley gives a great mythological overview that many neo-pagens believe in.

You can also see some of this conflict in a really good book called "the magic cup" by Fr. Greeley. An Irish telling of the Holy Grail story.

out in real life here I see daily that many "so called" Christians have been very abusive to me and others when they think I am a pagan or later when they learn that I am "a roman" .. alas .. so get gets tempthing at times to lash back out at these people. In their own way they might not think they are being rude, but they are, and they get really huffy when "advice" like that is returned.

The wiccans, the neo-pagens, the sufi, the budhists have never been rude. the only one that was a bit rude was a Krishna monk.

For example, a Southern Baptist I know was going on at lengh about worrying about heracy from 1000 years ago. Finally I zapped her with .. why should you care, it is you who are also living several heracies right now as defined by the same lot that made the heracy she was worried about.

Alas, perhaps not kind and almost not Christian of me but it did help get the point across.

I also went to a supposedly open and friendly Christmas party at their church and had the experence of listening to their leader bash just about every Christian group in the city as non-Christian. And then I was asked..."did I enjoy the party?"

Jesus taught above all love and forgiveness. It is best to remember that.

the first pricipal of my religion is similar but longer than Wiccas, Do no harm to no one or no thing unless that one or that thing has harmed you(yourself), your family, or nature. We have other laws too pretaining to kidness, and understanding and nuturing. There is also the Law of 3 by 3 i am not sure if you are aware of. Anything you do will come back to you 3 fold 3 times for good or ill. That is ment as a means of keeping people from being unkind. But sadly like your commandments, our rules do not always work and you still have those who refuse to abide by them. Please take no offence by this, as we do not agree on which way to beleive, but perhaps your question was well warentted to remind others to follow their own teachings.

actually, my extreme college did incredibly a complete study on the background of the vast 5 international religions, as properly as a study-and-assessment of their significant ideals, practices, advent memories and different significant myths, etc. It became eye-catching. nonetheless, i think of my extreme college journey could have been bizarre. opposite to many times occurring perception, separation of church and state does no longer mean that the background of religion won't be able to study. It does not even mean which you will no longer tutor approximately faith frequently - that's a extensive element in maximum international cultures throughout the time of background, that's definitely valid to grant scholars a primer on what the main religions are all approximately. however the actuality that the background of a faith is taught as background no longer scripture, and that scholars are taught the basics of a number of religions, without implication that any of them are greater perfect than the others - or in any respect - does tend to make some believers uncomfortable. And few instructors are comfortable with the undertaking, for concern of the two crossing a criminal line otherwise offending mothers and dads, and so maximum choose for to dodge the subject count. So youngsters are left to study approximately it by their non secular establishments (assuming they are non secular, and nonetheless the background they get is in all probability to be limited, selective, and biased) or by their very very own examine (because of the fact youngsters merely love doing self sufficient examine!) subsequently the present, regrettably elementary, state of lack of wisdom.

Yes, all of the pagan faiths that I have known have taught kindness, tolerance, and respect for others. This doesn't mean that all pagans are always nice. They aren't. No one is. But we do try. I am respectful to people of other religions---and I don't mind if you look through my answers to verify that. I can only control the actions of one person---me.

I agree that Christians do not usually ask insulting questions of pagans on this list. But you may not know that they do insult us all of the time by answering questions that are by pagans specifically looking for pagan answers. I don't judge all Christians by their loud minority though. Most of the Christians that I have contact with are kind and respectful to me. I suppose each religion has it's loud minority.

I read the rest, and got quite confused.

To be exact, Christians make fun of Wiccans and Pagans...

... a lot.

However, Wicca and Paganism has the Three Fold Law, which states whatever you do -- good or bad -- comes back at you three times.

Logic would state you'd do nicely, otherwise something three times as bad would happen to you -- should you do whatever bad thing that is.

A common tenet of wicca is the law of reciprocity: what a person does (or sends out), comes back to them multiplied. So in this sense, wicca does teach kindness.

I'm not Wiccan, but several of my friends are and I have done some reading on the subject. They are very big on " doing no harm". Negative magic(energy) has a severe risk of back-lashing on the caster. Don't confuse Wiccans with Satanist. They are NOTHING alike. Every one that I have personally met, have been of the finest moral fiber.

All religions have their zealots. The nastiness ensues from both sides. The majority of religions do teach patience, compassion, kindness and love. That does not mean all the followers exemplify that.

Amen.

Wicca apparently believes very highly in Karma if you curse someone the curse will come back at you worse. I imagine it's the same way with Paganism. So yes I do think it teaches people kindness.
