You most definately can my dear. And you can do it for free too. Go to your state's website, click on the down loadable forms page and find a document that says placement/guardianship. Download it, fill it out, then go to your clerk of courts office and file it. Ask the receptionist to speak to the court commissioner to wave the fees. (you'll have to explain your circumstances, but they will do it). Then have the parents served through the sherriff's department...this will cost you but only about $25. Then show up at court, explain the situation regarding who's been taking care of the children, and you would like to continue caring for them, but need some financial assistance from the parents. They will be ordered to pay. You have a very strong case here and may even get some back pay as well. The longer you wait, the less money you get (in regards to arrears), so do this first thing Tuesday morning.
I wish you well and bless your heart for taking in someone else's children.

In our current courts, you are able to sue for anything you feel, but there is no guarantee that the courts will even hear the case. In your matter, I personally feel that you do have a legitamate case with justifiable reasons for it. The judge should agree with you and award you support, but theres always the one chance due to some unforeseen reason the judge could also pull them out from under you and place them in a foster home too. Most will award custody to a relative and I dont see why not here. So sue for support and hope for the best. Good luck

You must be the child's legal guardian in order to get support on the childrne's behalf. Another option is to become the children's official foster parent and then you can receive a stipend for them (and the State will pursue child support from the parents but you won't have to wait until that is decided). Contact the social services agency in your county and/or legal aid. Good luck to you.

I do not believe so. However, you may be able to file for assistance in this regard. Child support is to give a child a financial level as if living with both parents. Look into state assistance, reduced lunches, and such to try and relieve the financial strain this has put on you. It is very admirable that you have taken these boys in. Keep your head up.

Yes you can if the children were awarded to you by the court or if they live in your home 24/7 you can take the parents to court for child support. But be careful becuase if they are living with you without any court orders all the parents have to say is tha they can take them back and they might. You should consult with an attorney about this but i believe you can sue and you should.

If you have not adopted the children you are eligible to receive Welfare for the children. Your income will not be counted towards the welfare case. The children will receive medical, food stamps, and you will receive cash assistance.
The Welfare office will automatically open a chilld support case against both parents.

You can sue them for support. You can also go to the state for assistance AND THEY will go after them. You will be eligiable for benefits.
And don't forget to claim them on the tax return.
