both parents work and contribute nothing to kids support, i am on a fixed income and am finding it incresinly hard to get the kids what they need. Have had one child for 4 years and the other for 3 years, they are 14 and 16 years old. They have 4 other kids that the state removed from their home in Oct. 05 and still have not gotten back. I need finacial help with these two growing boys. Sending these boys back to their parents is not an option! Can someone out there help with any information??

Yes, you should seek child support through the state agency responsible for it. Unfortunately, with so many kids, the amount of child support you stand to get from the parents will not come close to covering the money you spend.

You may need to establish some type of legally binding custody agreement prior to beginning the process. Make a few phone calls to determine what you need and how to go about obtaining it.

Apply for food stamps and any other support options available to you. Do not think of this as "welfare" as you are providing a loving home for kids that might otherwise contribute to crime and mayhem. I would rather pay tax dollars to help you provide a loving and caring environment than to pay tax dollars towards supporting these kids in prison in the years to come.

Once you have a child support order, you may still receive no money from the parents. You may have to wait until they file their tax returns next year, and then wait for the long process that finally routes the money to you. You need to make sure you have claimed these children as dependents and using the status of head-of-household if you are not married. This greatly increases your refund amount. If you did not do this for the past several years, you may consider filing an amended return to take advantage of the larger return amounts.

You may find some assistance at your local legal aid organization.

Good luck!

If you are the Court ordered or legal guardian, then you may have legal recourse to receive support for the children, other wise most likely you don't have a legal leg to stand on!
Contact child protective service or department of welfare services for more detailed information!

Yes!!! absolutely.........childsupport is an obligation not an option. it is enforced by law in most states,...no matter who has the children. Contact your local DA and they will send you all the info for free.
