I've seen this statistic posted several times today.
I've seen all the responses... this is so not true.....prove it.....I don't believe it, etc.

Here is a link that proves it:
http://www.acf.hhs.gov/healthymarriage/about/talking_points_en.htm

Click the link and read it and if you don't believe it take it up with the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, not me.

There is also some interesting statistic about Hispanics' very high high school drop out rates.

Of course, you could have found this out yourself from any search engine...ever heard of Google, Yahoo, MSN?.....

Guess what? 67% of African American births are out of wedlock
I read that in the Wall Street Journal years ago.
Don't believe me? Look it up yourself or can you?

Do you people ever watch the news or do you only watch reality TV,soap operas, and tabloid talk shows.
Do you ever read a news paper....and if you do, do you comprehend or remember it.
I won't ask about your web surfing habits

To below: the percentage of white babies born out of wedlock is 21% not 60%.
That link you provide does NOT mention anything about white out-of-wedlock birth rates.

Her is a link that tells the white rate is 21%

See I like people that back things up with proof. Too bad you will still be called a racist or some other name that just trys to hide the real issue!

How is it a stereotype with proof? I don't get that. A stereotype is saying that everyone with glasses is a nerd or something stupid like that!

moron, who gives a F*** wether you're born out of wedlock? Have you seen the divorce rate in this country, half the kids born are going to live in single parent households. And for the record, many hispanics are religous, even more so than "whites" making it not as socially acceptable to have a child out of wedlock. And hispanic families are usually more close knit. they dont just dump a kid out on the street on his 18th birthday, let him fend for himself like so many families do.

I read that it was actually a higher percentage than that! AnalaR, take a comprehensive reading course. We don't make up the facts and figures. Your people do.

well dude it don't really have much to do with race of the person at all most young adults seems to think having kids while they are still kids themselves is cool but they don't realize that this is not a way for any kid to grow up in any part of the world. Sex should not be used until after marriage and I have always believe this and no one will ever change my mind.

Thankfully, when my wife and I have a child, it will be in wedlock. I am Caucasian and she is Hispanic.
