I have a dog that I really love but he wrecks everything! He ripped up almost everything in my backyard, he managed to get out of his cage in the house and my basement and ripped up everything! My dad owns a bakery and he has to work very hard every day and whenever he comes home, and he sees the mess, he has to clean it up.. my dad says that he's going to give my dog away.. but the only reason why he chews up everything is probably because he needs more attention.. i play with him everyday but it's hard to cuz my parents said not to let him out in the basement, house or backyard.. so i have no way of playing with him or anything.. what should i do?

Sorry, but I agree with the person who responded above.
It would be best for the poor animal if you found a home where he could run freely with plenty of attention and exercise. I can never bear to see a dog in a cage, or on a chain, rope etc. Imagine a person in solitary confinement, and you will have some idea of the extreme frustration he feels.

If the dog is yours, why is your dad cleaning up your dog's messes? You should take the responsibility to clean up the mess.
It sounds like your dog has too much energy because she is not able to find a way to expel it. Since you can't let the dog out anywhere near your house, you should take her to the park or for really long walks so she can use her energy.
I really think you should consider finding a new home for your dog though, because what is the point of having a pet if they have to stay confined all day? Dogs need love and attention and should be able to form a pack with their owners. Your dog needs to have more freedom.

I love that you want to keep your dog, but if you really feel he's not getting the attention and exercise he needs you might need to find him a home that can give him that. I understand that you love him and want the best for him, but being stuck in a cage all day is not best for him. He's probably wrecking your stuff out of boredom, and he is so excited when he gets out of his cage, but I have the feeling he gets yelled at alot for tearing everything up, so he's probably not as happy as he could be. Maybe a less energetic animal would be best for you. There are a lot of good animal rescues, who could find a good home for your dog. If you really want to keep him, you need to talk to your dad about letting him outside, because he needs the room to run around as much as he can.

You need to get a better kennel, leave on the the TV or radio, put food water and toys in w/ him. I assume he's still young, so I'd say this is separation anxiety that he is acting out. Also you can buy a Bitter Almond Oil, and apply it to surfaces that he is likely to chew, and won't chew them any more (usually, cuz it tastes really bitter.)

Sounds like your dog has seperation anxiety. My dog used to do the same thing every time we left him home alone. He eventually stopped and I now come home to a clean house. What I do when I leave the house is bring out his chest of toys and close all doors in the house and leave him in a small area. Is your dog still a puppy? It could be that he's teething...Go and buy him rawhides, they go nuts with those and keep to them selves.

dog not allowed in the basement, house or backyard???!@!!!
where is he supposed to hang out, on the roof!??
obviously they don't want a dog at all. It would be best for him to find a home where he is actually wanted. I am so sorry you will have to give up your good friend for his own sake, but that is what is best.

Lots and lots of exercise -- take the dog for long walks.
What does Cesar Millan say? Excercise, discipline, affection?
Rules, boundaries, and limitations?
