Everyone is unique, so you do need to consult w/ your doctor.
You can generally resume exercise 6 weeks after the operation. You will be able to take short walks at a comfortable pace, with the approval and guidance of your doctor. Exercise improves your metabolism, while both exercise and attending a group support can boost your self-esteem and help you stay motivated. But ALWAYS get permission from your MD first.

Your question depends on a few factors.. First, did you have Open Surgery or laparoscopic ?
Llaparoscopic Surgery: Now, you can start weight training right away as long as you do NOT use your abdominal muscles. You should avoid to train that area heavily for the next 3 months. You can start after the first month with very light abdominal exercises.
Now, if you had open surgery, I would rather ask your doctor personally. I have heard mixed reviews on that. In my case, I had laparoscopic, and those where the rules given to me.
The only "danger" in weight training is in the abdominal area, because there is where the operation took place, and you have to give time for your muscles to heal.
Arms, butt, legs, etc, can be exercised weeks after the
Again, in my particular case, I was told to start for the first month only with cardio-vascular exercises.
And VERY important here: you HAVE to exercises all the muscles in your body once you are able to do so....
Good luck!

you should be fine to start a mild exercise routine. you should focus on a wide variety of exercises such as weight training for toning, and cardio like aerobics, treadmill, eliptical machines, bicycling, even walking briskly. it is best to consult your physician or the program that did your WLS. they are the best to advise you. If you had open surgery your stomach muscles may need a little longer to heal. all exercise routines should be started out slowly and gradually increase your intensity to reduce risk of injury. it is best to vary your types of exercise to get a better overall body conditioning and reduce the likelihood of becoming bored with the same old routine.

Don't you think this is a question for your DOCTOR??? Why weight training? I think cardio training to achieve a basic level of fitness should be first. I would recommend walking on a treadmill to begin.

You should really speak to your doctor so you don't injure yourself. Before you start any weight training, I would suggest a check up.
