It is not in the bible. revelations tells a different story but they did not like it so they invented the rapture to get and keep paying converts. too unpopular otherwise. nobody wnats to suffer, they want to be special and escape the pain while others suffer for them that is what being christian is all about. somebody else makes the sacrifice and you reap the benefit.
it attracts weaklings and cowards

Rapture.
Definition: The belief that faithful Christians will be bodily caught up from the earth, suddenly taken out of the world, to be united with the Lord “in the air.” The word “rapture” is understood by some persons, but not by all, to be the meaning of 1Â Thessalonians 4:17. The word “rapture” does not occur in the inspired Scriptures.
Paul warned: “As for the times and the seasons, brothers, you need nothing to be written to you. For you yourselves know quite well that Jehovah’s day is coming exactly as a thief in the night. Whenever it is that they are saying: ‘Peace and security!’ then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them just as the pang of distress upon a pregnant woman; and they will by no means escape.” (1Â Thessalonians 5:1-3.) But alert Christians will escape. How?
The cry “Peace and security!” is a precursor of the hope of survival right here on the earth. To prepare for it, they must remain spiritually awake. How can you do this and survive the end of this system?
You need to ‘keep your senses and have on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet the hope of salvation.’ (1 Thessalonians 5:6-8.) Now is the time to pay attention to God’s prophetic Word, the Bible. As the seconds tick away until the end of this system, heed Paul’s counsel: “Do not treat prophesyings with contempt. Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.” (1 Thessalonians 5:20, 21) Thus Jehovah’s Witnesses welcome you to their Kingdom Halls, where you can share with them in the study of Bible prophecies and other features of God’s inspired Word.
As you grow in accurate knowledge and faith, you will discern the outworking of Jehovah God’s purpose to rid the universe of his foes and restore the earth to a paradise. By exercising faith, you may also be among the survivors of the great tribulation, privileged to welcome back the millions who will be resurrected to life on earth.
For obedient mankind in general, then, what is the true Scriptural hope? It is not a rapture. Instead, it is eternal life on earth under the rule of God’s Kingdom.

1 Thessalonians 4;17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord
And by the way the correct rendering in Greek is the word paralambano meaning to meet in a close and familiar fashion
But it appears your problem is not with a specific idea but the entire bible right?
Why don't you just ask something according to your real difficulties with the bible to begin with instead of dicking around about minor details.
If you want to know about the valid testimony for the bible being divinely inspired then ask it like you have something to say instead of nit picking about different issues.
We all know your real intention. you want to make people that believe different than you look stupid because they haven't got all the answers for you. Well what discipline do you know where the person professing it knows their topic exhaustively? Haven't you got something more productive to do with your time like going to a funeral for a soldier to protest or maybe a tree that needs a hug somewhere? Preferably in a swamp somewhere?

Something called the Brotherhood, close enough for here; from the Victorian Era of England. I can't recall the fellows name, but this was His interpretation. He took this to America where it was well received and it became the "Rapture". Could have been in the 1870s I think, perhaps later. That's where it began, another interpretation by someone looking to cash in on Christianity. As I understand He did all right too!

1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not preceed them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Note: the word "rapture" is never used in the Bible.

It's not an idea, but an actual upcoming event that will take place in our life time. Rapture means to assend upward into heaven by Jesus. To come up to Jesus into the clouds.
Revelation 4:1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
In this scripture, Jesus is rapturing the christians and showing them what is to come next.

This reminds me of a dangerous new-agy movement that expects a kind of global rapture in 2012: ascension stuff, with a bunch of so-called assended "masters".
It smells like many collective suicides to come...
May they enjoy their assension into the grave.
"rapture", "ascension" = leaving the physical body in order to let the "soul" ascend to some kind of holy place.
In other words = DYING in a non-natural way.

We didn't. The word hardpazo in Greek means santched up. It is used in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 where the Church is said to be caught up to meet Christ in the air.

They like fiction. Its better than the truth of the bible.
"In this scripture, Jesus is rapturing the christians and showing them what is to come next."
You might want to study that a liiiitle more carefully.
