judging from the way things are going in U.S. with more and more people turning away from God and disenchanted with the way the church deals with child molesting priest. Along with homosexuality ( again i am not trying to offend), crime, drugs and total lack of respect for each other do you think that the U.S. is headed for a soddom and Gammorra situation with God? Please dont think that i am being judgmentle about any religion, race, or sexual orientation i believe people should be allowed to live how ever they please. Its just that i see alot of the behaviors that got those two cities destroyed. Just wondering what you all think. Sorry if my spelling of the cities is incorrect.

Lindalou.... I think you had some good points but dont you think that if i am contemplating how i can change things through myself that eventually i am going to have to try and change those around me. We are not an island to ourself and everthing we do effects everyone else so in effect you are changing those around you to suit your own needs. Just my opinion i hope yu will read this and reiterate i would like to hear your point of view thanks

To jarm....I believe this is important. If you have kids or plan on having any we should try and make it so they have a better place to live. The future starts with us. Thanks anyway though.

You might be interested to know that it's in no way clear that the sins of Sodom had anything to do with homosexuality. The Hebrew words used are the wrong ones for that. And the Jewish tradition says over and over, for hundreds of years, that is was greed and the lack of hospitality. (Hospitality being absolutely vital in a desert society.)

"Now this was the sin of Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen." Ezekiel 16:49-50:

The scariest thing about this story is that while Lot refuses to hand over his two visitors, he offers his two daughters to the townspeople instead! And he's the one righteous man there?!?

Wiki's got a good summary of the different interpretations, including the significance of (mis)translating the passages. The link is below.

Of all of the interpretations that we have, Ezekiel's is the closest in time to the (alleged) events. I see no reason to follow any other. Collectively, we (U.S. Americans) are arrogant, overfed and unconcerned. Few of us truly help the poor and needy. Many are haughty. Including more than a few of the Saved.

Are we heading for destruction? It certainly seems like it some days. But I don't know that it's any worse than in previous times -- with the implication that if the big G were going trash NYC or LA, it would've happened already -- and I certainly don't think we need to see it as cataclysmic or hand that power over to G-d, we're getting there all by ourselves. Let's see this story as one of consequences -- when we treat our guests and our neighbours wretchedly, our society falls apart.

I think the biggest thing that will destroy the United States is intolerance in the areas it should not be, and tollerance where it should not. Homosexuality, amoung two people of proper age, honestly, is not an issue. But when it comes to any one molesting a child, regardless of a normal person or preist, that should be dealt with swiftly. Its just a crime against nature itself to harm or force a child to do something that will get them hurt. I do not think her grace will come and kill everyone here, however, she is just not like that.

i think that God said that he would never again take a direct hand in the path of man.

thus it really does not matter how many in the us worship or do not worship him. if he is to keep his word then it is of no concern.

i think that the US is the best place in the world to live. where there are laws to protect the religious rights and freedoms of all of the population.

i think that as long as it is between concenting adults that is is no business of anyone elses what kind of sex 2 people decide to have.

i think that the churches that hide priests that are molesting children should have their status as a legal organisation in the us revoked... end that real quick...

the us may have many people that are not christian...hell i am pagan as are most of my friends... but it is also one of the few places in the world that respects all religious beliefs and that includes christianity.

When God comes again, it is for the final judgment.

So to answer your question, no, the U.S. is not headed into that situation with God, since after Christ, God is hands-off as far as destroying cities and whatnot.

That said, he won't intervene in the country's destroying itself.

Good correlation, its the last days and I believe there will be a great revival in the Christian ranks and a great falling away. The cover up of pedophile priests has been appalling.

Sure, all that will happen IF that's what you focus your energy on.

As Gandhi said "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."

Instead of focusing on everyone and everything else and all of "their" imperfections, I think we should all stop and ask ourselves "what am I doing in my life and my little universe to be the change I wish to see?"

Worry and blame are the biggest time and energy wasters in life.

Your right about the sodom and gamorah days. This is the third time God is going to destroy this earth, and it is going to be the last time. You speak the truth, and no offence taken. People who dont' believe in God's word are the ones who take offence to it. Not this Christian. You are very insightful, and I pray that you have accepted Jesus as your savior before He returns for His church. God bless you

the god that created you will not destroy his toys. it is too much fun watching them mess up. he created us that way so why should he complain?
he destroyed those two cities and the only survivors immediately got drunk and engaged in incest. ( check it out in the bible and see it is true. Lots daughters got him drunk and seduced him) and those were the GOOD people. so why bother now. let them rut and strut and puke their guts out. god does not care
and never did. not that god. the TRUE GOD cares but he is not being listened to. GOD does not destroy cities and poeple. that was not GOD that did that, it was a lesser god.( Saklas)

I think we are in the beginning of the end times. We are sytematically destroying our world and yes, I agree that we have serious social problems.
