Ignorance. Its a sad fact that the majority of Americans are ignorant but its not their fault. Its a result of poor education, corrupt politicians, and a media full of propaganda. A lot of Americans aren't aware of the rapes and murders, and i've noticed that some of those who are aware seem to think its justified after 9/11.

One Marine with 4 Marines choosing to cover it up does not mean the Military as a whole are guilty. Are you willing to say all Americans are murderers like Ted Bundy because of one "bad apple"?
We do not hide terrorist like Al Queda. If the media spent anymore time report every mistake the Military makes, we
would not hear any other news.

we have been brainwashed by the intellectual class in the USA who programs what is called "American exceptionalism" into our heads...

If we knew the truth we would be ashamed of what we do internationally, which is why our Government and Media has to constantly obfuscate the truth.

People here get as hyped up about John Carr as they do the genocide in Fallujah that we committed, maybe less so on the latter...

thats sad, sick and immoral but perfectly operational in the mongoloid version of Capitalism we endure every day here.

most drones don't know it.

read Fahrenheit 451 for the underlying reasons.

As an American myself, born and bred here, I must say that my husband and I are way too busy raising a family and living our lives than to worry about what may or may not be happening in Iraq. Don't get me wrong, I do care, but I believe there are people who get paid to worry about this stuff and I'm not one of them. The majority of Americans are good people just trying to live their lives and raise their children like everyone else.

It is reported in the media and we all have to suffer for it, TRUST ME!

Just think about this... I am sure that the oppressed would rather have us, where the justice system is willing to prosecute those who commit crimes than the regimes (like Saddam's, Hitler's, Stalin's, Mao's, etc.) where those that commit crimes simply go unpunished.

Well, about the media, the conservatives like to say that the "liberal" media makes america and the bush admin look bad. I dont see that at all. Have you seen FOX news? CNN? they spin everything to make the US look so just and right. In fact most conservative, nationalistic, and highly patriotic people think that reporting facts about what we really do is leftist propaganda. Its sad really. Credible media sources are NOT big network sources. Period. If you want to get real stories, look to Public Radio, BBC news and others.
as for the high and mighty american attitude, it has developed after years and years of believing that we were the good guys. we americans grew lazy and complacent decades ago, and just believed that we needed to vote, and then let the leaders do as they pleased. this led to corporate welfare, corporate alliances with government, and deep corruptions. Now, faced with the ugly truth, many of us just hide our heads in the proverbial sand and insist that we are still a nation of holy do-gooders.
we have forgotten that the mixture of church and stae is against our guiding principles. Slowly, christian fundamentalism is taking over, and this country is less free every day.
Its time that we withdraw our heads from the sand and realize that we do not hold moral superiority. We do not have a free pass to commit crimes against humanity or hold alliances with those who do (israel) without consequences. ~ one of which is dwindling pride.

Its not a moral superiority, its just called fascism

Bush probably ordered 9/11 for a conquest of arab oil. The comission on 9/11 reported that on 9/11 Dick Cheney was making war drills across north america. He in fact , sent all the F16 and F18 far away.

when the first plane was reported hijacked, no F-16 and F-18 were able to intercept..

This also means that on the very same day of 9/11, the US had two central commands directing the F-16 and F-18 and both were giving conflicting informations on the highjacked planes..

You american people should contemplates that 9/11 was US made
jointly with Al-Quaida

Sweetheart, it WAS reported in the media. Five morons does not represent the population of the U.S. or the armed forced any more than a couple of guys playing stupid moose in the "Brother Bear" movies represents Cananda. So, why don't you get a beer, eh, and we'll continue to be high and mighty as well as morally superior to you, at least.

The reincarnation of Glanton's scalping party was an elite 45-man unit of the 101st Airborne Division known as Tiger Force.

The Blade's intricate reconstruction of its murderous march through the central highlands of Vietnam in summer and fall 1967 needs to be read in full, horrifying detail. Blade reporters interviewed more than 100 American veterans and Vietnamese survivors.

Tiger Force atrocities began with the torture and execution of prisoners in the field, then grew to the routine slaughter of unarmed farmers, elderly people, even small children. As one former sergeant told the Blade, "It didn't matter if they were civilians. If they weren't supposed to be in an area, we shot them. If they didn't understand fear, I taught it to them."

Very early, Tiger Force began scalping its victims (the scalps were dangled from the ends of M-16s) and cutting off their ears as souvenirs. One member, who would later behead an infant, wore the ears as a ghoulish necklace (just like the character Toadvine in "Blood Meridian''), while another mailed them home to his wife. Others kicked out the teeth of dead villagers for their gold fillings.

A former Tiger Force sergeant told reporters that he "killed so many civilians he lost count." The Blade estimates that innocent casualties were in the hundreds. Another veteran, a medic with the unit, recalled 150 unarmed civilians murdered in a single month.

Superior officers, especially the Glanton-like battalion commander Gerald Morse (or "Ghost Rider," as he fancied himself), sponsored the carnage. Orders were given to "shoot everything that moves," and Morse established a body- count quota of 327 (the numerical designation of the battalion) that Tiger Force enthusiastically filled with dead peasants and teenage girls.

Soldiers in other units who complained about these exterminations were ignored or warned to keep silent, while Tiger Force slackers were quickly transferred out. As with Glanton's gang, or, for that matter, Einsatzgruppen, the Nazi mobile extermination squads in the western Ukraine in 1941, atrocity created its own insatiable momentum. Eventually, nothing was unthinkable in the Song Ve Valley.

"A 13-year-old girl's throat was slashed after she was sexually assaulted, and a young mother was shot to death after soldiers torched her hut. An unarmed teenager was shot in the back after a platoon sergeant ordered the youth to leave a village, and a baby was decapitated so that a soldier could remove a necklace."

Stories about the beheading of the baby spread so widely that the Army was finally forced to conduct a secret inquiry in 1971. The investigation lasted for almost five years and probed 30 alleged Tiger Force war crimes. Evidence was found to support the prosecution of at least 18 members of the platoon.

In the end, however, a half dozen of the most compromised veterans were allowed to resign from the Army, avoiding military indictment, and in 1975 the Pentagon quietly buried the entire investigation.

According to the Blade, "It is not known how far up in the Ford administration the decision (to bury the cases) went," but it is worth recalling who the leading actors were at the time: The secretary of Defense, then as now, was Donald Rumsfeld, and the White House chief of staff was Dick Cheney.

The Tiger Force story is the third major war crimes' revelation in the past few years to encounter apathy in the media and/or indifference and contempt in Washington.

BEIJI, Iraq — Five U.S. army soldiers are being investigated for allegedly raping a young woman, then killing her and three members of her family in Iraq, a U.S. military official said Friday.
This is the sixth current inquiry into the alleged slayings of Iraqi civilians by American troops.
The soldiers also allegedly burned the body of the woman they are accused of assaulting in the March incident, the official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity
