I like this guy that is in AA. He has almost 10 years of sobriety. He has friends that drink and he is always the DD for them.
My problem is I am a social drinker myself. Is it a bad idea to persue this attraction. I don't want to cause him any uncomfortable situations. As it is he doesnt know that I am interested but I know that he was interested in me at one time when the timing wasnt right....so I dont know if I have a chance anyway

Why dont you just go for it and let him decide if he is ok with your life style...

If he is a recovering alcoholic his entire life is an uncomfortable situation don't let this stop you. Ten years is pretty impressive I would say give the guy ( and yourself ) a chance.

Don't date a drunk. Especially one that goes to that cult AA.

There are loads of other things you could do that does not involve drinking.....like bowling??? Anyway, there is loads of stuff, do it!
