I lived in Zurich for 1 1/2 years, lovely city, and tried a lot of schocki there.
My absolute favourite was Callier's honey and allmond crunch (my translation!). It's very common there, no super high class chocolate.
If you look for sometihng like that look out for Lind's summer and winter specials, specially the ones around christmas are stunning!
Or one of the 85% cacoa killers that you have to enjoy in little bits and keep them melting in your mouth 'til the taste slowly changes to it's fullest extand.
Best one I found on the English market so far are Ritter Sport - the come with a variety of over 15 choices back in Germany and are very popular but as well quite ordinary..
And what I don't get is all that fuzz they make about Belgian chocolate up here, nothing special at all in my opinion.
Enjoy!

If you live in the UK, go to a branch of Aldi and Lidl and buy one of their dark chocolates. A good brand to try is J D Gross. It is better than any I have ever bought. I agree with you that Godiva doesn't live up to its reputation. If you have time, consider going to Costa Rica for a holiday so you could come back with some Britt chocolate covered coffee beans. They are absolutely delightful!

IMHO anything made by Cadbury's in England particularly a Twirl and Thornton's chocolates (also English). Dove now has an orgainc range and that is pretty yummy too !And I agree with you Godiva is awful, I bought some and wondered what all the fuss is about.

Godiva may not be the best for you, but its my favorite .... next to Godiva are those made dark chocolates which you can buy at the board walk in Atlantic City, I really forgot the candy stores name.

the best chocolate I ever had I found in a little candy shop in Scotland - they were eggs like we get at Easter, but all milk chocolate made in russia with a gold candy coating. The coating was thin so it simply made a light crunch and kept things from melting quickly. The chocolate was undescribably creamy and flavorful with a hint of orange.

ooooooooo, I could take all day on this question (but I won't!). Depends on my mood. Some days its a Galaxy, but I love Cadburys. Crunchies, Flakes, Flaked dipped (yummy!!!).
Mars Bars are nice sometimes (especially when you are absolutley starving, there is nothing better than a Mars bar!). Really like the little Fredo bars though, they are really tasty, and because they are small, you can fool yourself that it is healthy. (well not healthy, but healthier!!).
Have to second the hotel chocolat, it is delicious!!
