It depends partialy on Middle Eastern oil, Chinese labor, European Support and so many other things. I live in America its not all that and its definatly not all Free especialy the media!!!

It isn't really a choice as much as it is a defined term.
A superpower is a nation which has the ability to project its military might anywhere in the world to directly influence the region. Many nations can indirectly influence things in other parts of the world, such as the big oil producers. Many nations exert tremendous influence in a region, such as China's influence in East Asia. A handful of nations can threaten other nations nuclear missiles, but that threat is of limited value if that is the only bullet in the gun.
With the collapse of the Soviet Union only one nation remains that can exert that kind of influence across the entire globe, and because of the US Navy and ICBMs that nation is the USA.
I would not say that that is necessarily a good thing, it is just the way it is.

They are simply the super power because America is so vast that the country could run entirely on its own produce without trading with the outside world. That having been said its a common mistake that ignorant Americans think they can take on the whole world, the simple fact is they can't, they just dont want to admit it. I'm a proud UK citizen but i have no problems with people moaning about britain because its far from perfect.

ANother fool influenced by the media that is full of hate America types and has the freedom to spread their leftist agendas while calling it news. And we are the only super power or at least the strongest right now economically and militarily. We depend on other countries because liberal idiots like you want your cheap Chinese made crap stereos and TV's and french cheese and wine while you spend time whining about how terrible the US is. But remeber if you were in China or some other country even some in Europe and you said the things you do you would be put in prison. How are you writing this without reprisal from the government? Did the Secret Police come and drag you and your family away to some secret concentration camp? No! They didn't. In America,you have the ability to start with practically nothing and thru hard work become a success. America IS all that. America is ONE of several superpowers such as China,Russia,Great Britain,France,Germany,Japan,and so many others. We exist because we have alliances and cooperation with other nations.

Well, the USA is the superpower now-a-days since they are the sole organized community ordering what to be done and how, worldwide, with the exception of China! Everywhere else, the USA has the orders how and who to proceed!
I wrote that everyone except China since China is free and independent, having their own government and economy!

It depends on milirary might who is the superpower. This is why the USA dispite how backwards and uneducated, dispite the fact that our labor is not competitive on any level with the world, can still command the UN, support Israel and ruin economies of weaker states. Plus our commerce is global so the corporations are technically only chartered here, thier profits are global. So it boild down to only military bullying and what some fools call "might". It will end soon because we will be awoken to our backward ways by more "might" being focussed on us, and then we will see who is brave enogh to deal with what Bush willed to happen o this country, endless war.

If the press gets any more free, I do not think I could bear to listen to them. How many lies have they had to retract in the last two months? Now, that is free!

America does that's who, we don't need any of those things, we just believe in free markets. we can pump our own oil if we need to. but we let the environmentalists stop us and we don't need Europe's support we just ask for it to be friendly. sure we get alot of things from other countries but we can make it here if we have to.
