Me and my husband have been searching for a church to go to but couldn't find one that we both agree on, so we started going to the mormon church because we were in a new city and didn't know anyone and they made us feel like we were part of something like a family.(we have both lost all of our family, except my dad and he's in TX, we are in OK) so the missionaries started doing their home lessons and as the weeks went on we struggled to make up
our mind what we believed, and just to set the record strait we now go to a differnt church!! anyway we have been having a tough time with this and we had to go to the churh for assistance to get
by and yesterday(9-1-06) we needed gas so I could get to work and the missionaries told us and I quote "the church can only do so much for someone who is not faithful to the church" and then when I told him that we were going to this other church for help he said, "hah, good luck with that!" so my question is this right and are the mormons right?

Do you think what he said was right? or are we being to sensitive?? or are the mormons just a cult who is trying to suck us in?
after they went over those lessons they started over because as they put it we "didin't get it" also we didn't give up tea or coffee and they look down on us for that like they are better than us, and just so you know we are not white trash or some jerry springer reject, we were just having a hard time, because my payday just went every 2 weeks instead of weekly because I went permenat at my job and it messed up finances because I didn't get paid for 2 weeks

# 1 The church has an obligation to show good stewardship over their money. -- Does not matter what church.

# 2 Sounds like you have leaned on them in the past and asked for money.... how many times?
Our church typically helps someone out, only after they have completed a questionairre. Do you realize that churches can be audited by the government and they have to show an accounting for the way their money is used.

# 3 If you have been attending this other church... Why did you go back to them for the handout? go to the church you are attending now.

# 4 I think the person you talked to is probably not a true representation of the church. At the least he shoulcd have used a bit of sensitivity in answering you.

There are some churches ... and the Mormans are one of them that have a reputation for helping people. These churches are finding themselves targeted by free loaders. I am not saying you are one, but you have to understand the full picture before you make judgements about their willingness to help.

I am not a Morman, but our church is frequently targeted. We do not give out cash. If you need gas... we send you to a station we have set up an account with for this purpose.

If you need food... we will go with you to the store and buy you some solid food and staples ... no junk food and no ready to eat food.

We had to set up guidelines to protect ourselves from people taking advantage of our generousity..

First thing first, you do not EVER pick A church on how it makes you "feel" you take your bible [like a king james verson] and make sure what is being said matches what is being taught, Try visiting A Seventh Day Adventist Church in your area, the Seventh day is the Sabbath of The Lord, that is Saturday, no where does it say the first day God ever made holy and if He did not make it holy YOU do NOT keep it holy because your not God. Free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com talk to me by email wgr88@yahoo.com God bless by the way this is no refelection on anyones relationship with God but the papcy, that is the roman catholic church is the reason why you go to chruch on sunday, and they are very proud of that the papcy is, In Daniel 7:25 it says ...and he shall think to change laws and times... only one commandment deals with Law AND time that is the Sabbath commandment is Exodus 20:8-11, investagate what I said okay.

No, they're not right at all! First of all, you shouldn't join a church without making sure that you feel is right for you. I can't stand people trashing religions, but the Morman religion is the fastest growing religion. It is very deceiving, they appear as wholesome, family-oriented, and Christian. Well, most people, unfortunately, are born into it and know no difference. Their bible can change. If you say you're a prophet and others believe you, you can say that God told you this or that, and you can change the the bible an such. It's pretty sad. Yes, they will most definitely turn their backs on you. They believe that "they" are right and think the rest of us are going to hell because we aren't Mormons. You did the right thing getting out of there! Best of luck in ya'lls persuit of a church that ya'll feel "at home" in. Hugs.

The Bible is right. Read Revelation 2 and 3 and see how Jesus is counseling all the denominations to repent for judgment. Pray for guidance in your pursuit to serve God. Best wishes..Tina

I personally only believe the Bible, not the book of Mormon. Although there will be true and false prophets in the last days, we have not been told we are getting a new book besides the Bible. Revelation22:18,19.

If the people in whatever religion you are attending are doing God's will, you will never get in a situation like this without God helping you to take care of the problem. Many times we have helped others anonymously or otherwise and many times we have seen money practically materialize when someone needed help. Sounds to me like you need to keep looking to find God's people.

A church that truley loves people and wants to help would not react the way they did at the mormon church. Pray and ask God to lead you to the right church. He will answer. One way you will know is that they will want to help wether you are a member or not. That is true love for people. Hope this helps.

Run, don't walk, away from that church. Find a real Bible-believing church that doesn't use the Book of Mormon.

I don't know enough about the Mormon religion to judge their practices, but I would say that if they don't operate from a spirit of charity, even to non-members, they're not acting according to principals established by Jesus, whom they claim to serve. So, no, it isn't right, but then again, there's nothing you can do about it, so my advice would be to go to another church; there are a few that will help you if you are in need, regardless of your membership.

No one can tell you whether or not the Mormon Church is right...you have to search for yourself and pray to see if it is right. You shouldn't write it off because of one bad experience.

Where at in Oklahoma? I know some good churches, and many denominations. Find a good church that you feel comfortable in!
