do you inherit the "sound of your voice "from your family .I am not talking about accent's, e.g say a mother and daughter speak the very same.They both might have a soft voice ,or a husky one ,or a member of a family answer a phone and you cannot say is it the father or son

No, I think that is something all of your own but i think you can inherit, or learn or be influenced by the way people around you talk and pronounce their words.

Most men in my family have the same sounding voice for example, my dad and uncles especially on the phone but none of us girlies sound the same which i guess is a good thing.

How we sound depends upon many aspects. - I am told by my BUSINESS friends (who have never heard anyone in my family speak) that I speak "very business-like" and professionally.
Others who know my family say the same thing, but include that I speak with a distict accent ("kinda like my mother.")
With my years of Theatre acting and Broadcast announcing classes and experience, I learn the many different ways to express myself in many situations.
TOASTMASTERS train me in many ways!

Me & my sister sound the same on the phone...it annoys my Mum if we ring her she always asks if its me or my sister...we left home 20 yrs ago & now have families of our own but Mum still can't tell which one of us is calling !!

Yes it happens all the time with my family especially when my mum answears the phone when I was younger my friends thought it was me.

My Mother and I sound identical on the phone. Drives everyone mad.

No I tried to get my own sound when I was young. Have been accused of being posh and stuck-up by more than one person.

YES I DID. FOUND MY SELF TALKING LIKE MY MOM SAME TUNE AND ALSO THE WAY WE JUST SAY A WORD SHOCK ME SOMETIMES I INHERIT THAT FROM HER...GOOD THING I CAN SING BETTER THAN HER'S

Although I don't think my husband sounds like his brothers, when he phones his Dad, he always asks who is it.
