Yes. Scotch is a term that was invented by the English to describe the people of Scotland almost entirely for the purpose of angering them, and very often Scots find it offensive. It's a contraction of the word "Scottish."
To respond to the person below:
Scotch tape was so called because it was a reference to Scots traditionally being stingy with their money. It was a tape created as a masking tape (painter's tape) by 3M, and they didn't put any stickum in the middle, because they thought it wouldn't need it (after all, you only need the edge to keep the paint from running). At any rate, customers thought 3M was being cheap and called it "Scotch tape" (cheap tape).

Yes, it is very offensive. It shows extreme ignorance and insensivity.
I agree with Lyndsey about the word 'Loch' also.
It's so easy - Just omit the 'c' and go straight to the 'h'
tony.c....... Burns actually refers to 'Scots' men not Scotch men.
It is best to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

The Scotch don't even know their own history. You only have to read Burns or Sir Walter Scotts works to see that they refer to those people in Scotland as Scotch men. If it's good enough for them it's good enough for me and they will remain Scotch!
Also they can't spell , why say things that don't make sense.
Get some life experience.

Absolutely not. Why should they?
Most people who live in Scotland who hear the word Scotch will perceive it to derive from American origins, but it is not derogatory.
