I am trying to find a composer that wrote flute music and is from the United States and has a biography. I am doing some research.

The only one I know of is Gary Shocker. He's a flute player that writes modern flute music. Some of it is strickly "modern," but he's also written pieces in a jazz style. His most famous piece of music is the Native American Suite for flute and piano. Good luck!

Robert Dick is a very contempory flute composer, he uses lots of extended techniques.

Try asking local musicians, music teachers, etc...anyone who's in the music industry. They might know or have connections to one.
