Mold is fungus or spore, and it needs 3 things to grow: moisture, heat or warm air, and darkness, all of which you are providing so you'll wanna rinse them off with a light soap to remove slime or debris that'll give it the food it needs to grow, then thoroughly dry it off with a dry cloth or hang it out to air dry before placing it back in your rod locker.
you may also wanna clean the rod locker out with a light soap as well to remove any contaminants that may be causing the mold growth on a regular basis

Besides the aforementioned things, use a desiccant to help pull the moisture out of the air in the rod box to help prevent moisture build up. every so often you either want to replace then or you can reuse them by drying them out in a warm oven.
Check here for what I'm talking about:

I store mine in a water tight storage shed along with my other fishing stuff.
All horizontal hanging by hooks. Don't laugh guys, I'm a city dweller and that is my personal "Fortress of Solitude". Across the street from a great bar too!

first, clean out the rod storage area with warm soapy water then, wipe down the rods and, reels with reel magic. spray the line also. this will greatly reduce the memory in the line and, extend line life.
