Most people are not racist. They are anti-criminal.

If people came into the country legally there would be very little outcry.

It is simply a straw-man argument to call it racism. This makes the questioner either ignorant or an evil stooge of the liberals.

Most people cannot understand the distinction between the workers and the employers and can't figure out where to place the blame. So, politicians manipulate the weaker of mind and make them hate the poor who flee here for a better life, and disregard the Corporations who sometimes send for these people and provide them with the means to support thier families by working undocumented in teh United States.

"people" hate so-called illegals because they are predjudiced and angry about thier own lives.

The fact is industries like meatpacking need a constant stream of fresh--and desperate--labor. Meatpacking today has the lowest wages, highest turnover (100 percent a year), and highest injury rate of any sector of manufacturing. Less than a third of workers are unionized.

Employers have worked very hard to establish this situation, and guest-worker legislation with three-year limited visas fits their need for a disposable workforce perfectly.

Guest-worker legislation legitimizes the idea that some jobs are too dirty or dangerous for Americans, so Corporate America is justified filling them any way they can. We need a labor movement that says no worker is disposable--and fights for justice, dignity and safety for all.

My grandson is 1/2 legal Mexican so my problem is not with Mexicans it's against law breaking illegals. I have a son in the pen for breaking the law, when you play you gotta pay and that's just the way it is.

JTM in the area I live in Spanish is nothing but an option and has been for years, just like French and German.

I would also like to add that someone who is against people breaking the law isn't just white trailer trash as someone said here. If you are for someone breaking the laws then you are the one who needs to rethink your ideas. If someone breaks into your home or someone rapes you or steals your car you would think something was wrong if they didn't put them in jail. Saying it is trailer trash people makes you alot more prejudice than you think I am by wanting illegals to get away with breaking the laws of our land.

Because alot of them abuse the system like welfare and things of that nature and take away from U.S. citizens. Although alot of them do work their butt's off for a living its the select few gangmembers, drug dealers, and illegal immigrants give the mexican people a bad rap with Americans. Mexican's are not the only ones that American's descriminate against, look back at the Irish Immigrants as well. The American people think that they were here first, and we all know that is impossible, the Native American people were here long before white folk, black folk, yellow folk, or anyone else. So go figure.

You know there are many view points in this subject and no easy solution. I agree with you but I've grown up in border towns and there is also a lot of crime that come over with a lot of people and that is the issue. Tell me how to keep out the criminals and let the real working people in. There's no easy way.

And yes there are many racist ignorant people who speak before they think. They forget that the borders crossed us and not the other way around.

why not try to change Mexico instead of coming to America. America always has welcomed people from other countries that enter the country legally. it's when people come in illegally, pop out 2 and 3 kids and say "you can't send me back because my child is a U.S. citizen" then the taxpayers have to keep her and her kids up. if you are not happy in Mexico pass on through and go to Canada. stop blaming everyone else for your problems and take care of yourselves. how would you feel if millions of people came into Mexico, took jobs away from hard working Mexicans, decided they didn't have to learn how to speak Spanish brought drugs and gangs with them.

Racist people are this way because it is an attempt to try and make themselves feel superior. I totally agree with your argument though. The race card is used by politicians as a divisive tactic to divide and conquer. Few norte americanos recall that most of the SW states were a part of Mexico. I say, give it back to Mexico.

ignorance. believing what the news says. since blks made white ppl stop being racist, racist ppl need someone to hate. if they dont hate someone, then their brains will shrink. negative stereotypes in the news make ppl believe that versus stopping to think of the decent mexicans they know. stereotypes are for ppl who dont know any better.

Why are people so convinced that the issues regarding immigration are fueled by racism? They are not. The facts are illegals and legals alike raise crime, lower property values and take advantage of the monetary system. This isn't some made up bull crap.

If immigrants want to come here...great, pay for OR take the initiative to learn some US history and take the civil services exam and come here. Do not come here illegally. Do not come here legally and suck up as much welfare as you can...GET A JOB like my ancestors did when they came here (legally by the way) and learn English. This would help...A LOT!

Basic, good English grammar should be a prerequisite on Yahoo! Answers.
The vast majority of people in the US want secure borders. We do not want people walking into our country without approval of the Federal Government. We have laws that should be upheld by the government and obeyed by foreigners.
I do not see any racism against Mexicans. The have been coming to the US, illegally from the time Texas became a US Territory. Legal Mexicans have become a part of our society.
Most Americans want illegals - law breakers - to leave because they do not belong here. They broke our laws and should be punished for it.

how is it racist that I don't want to have to pay taxes that fund programs such as welfare for people who come into this country illegally and get free medical services that I have to pay for. There are illegals taking the flag of the United States down and trampling it and hoisting a Mexican flag claiming that this is Mexico. I work and pay taxes and can not get the same benifits that criminals get, these people are commiting acts of war. If wanting those people removed from my country makes me a racist then give me a sign and I will wave it proudly
