~~~I see that your question was posted about 4 hours ago,,,by now Im sure that your 3 year old has stopped bleeding,,,umm I sure wouldnt let a 3 year old rinse with listerine !!!
The tongue is the fastest healing part of the body,,,Let her have a couple Popsicles,,,1. will help numb the pain,,,,2. will help reduce the swelling,,,,3. Comfort her cause its a "Popsicle",,,~~~
Watch for any type of infection,,,but her saliva has enough enzymes that she should be ok,,,,~~~
The sting from a cheek or tongue bite probably will fade soon after you stop thinking about it.
Let Jack Frost nip on your bite. If the bite has drawn blood, suck on an ice cube or hold cold water in your mouth until the bleeding slows, says J. Frank Collins, D.D.S., a dentist in private practice in Jacksonville, Florida.
Clean it up. Swish an antiseptic mouthwash around the wound to prevent any chance of infection, Dr. Collins recommends. Listerine is a good choice.
Go to a mouth pro. If the bleeding doesn't stop after ten minutes, call your dentist, who may want to suture the wound.
Check your bite. Mention repeated cheek or tongue biting to your dentist, who will check the fit of your dentures or the alignment of your teeth. If misaligned teeth are the problem, braces may be in order—even for adults.
I started to say, have her rinse her mouth with Hydrogen Peroxide, then I saw the age and that would NOT be a safe remedy for a 3 year old.
Try giving her some shaved or chipped ice to suck on. It should freeze the tongue until the pain stops. If you have some pop-sicles, that would even be better.
Try "Rincinol PRN Oral pain reliever" by GUM. Doesn't contain alcohol, it doesn't numb, sting or burn. It's safe for children even if accidentally swallowed. "It forms a protective barrier which promotes healing and instantly provides relief up to 6 hours" as says on the bottle.
It's a good idea to get a bottle for the future.
Hope it helps
I once bit the tip of my tongue off, i was walking drunk and talking and i bit my tongue, hurt for a sec then i started talking again and bit it in the exact same place, this time something was in my mouth and i spat there was heaps of blood and the very tip of my tongue, gross i know! well i had school the next day and my teacher kept asking me to answer questions and i was mumbling and talking funny! so after class she pulled me aside and asked me what was wrong, i told her then she made me go to the staff room and stick my tongue in a bowl of warm salt water! stung like a Mutha Fuka but within a few days it was all healed again!
If its bad then take her to the doctor, if its only minor those rub on pain killers for sore teeth should help.
