As often as it needs it. As long as you use a good quality mild dog shampoo, conditioner and rinse, rinse, rinse, there is no reason why you cannot bathe your dog as often as needed. I bathe my dogs, as well as several clients dogs once a week.

Alot of people( and even some old school vets) still believe the myth that bathing too often will dry out a dogs skin. Dog shampoos are so much better than they use to be, and this just is not true anymore....like I said, just use a good quality shampoo...not Hartz or anything from Walmart or a grocery store.
I personally think more than once a week is a bit much (unless you have back to back dogs shows) ..I just can't see a dog getting that dirty in a day or 2. Once a week should be fine.

my Shih-tzus get a bath every 7 - 10 days, but my lab x only gets a bath about once a month or every other month. All 3 dogs are indoor dogs (they go out 3 times a day for 30 min each time)

I think its necessary to wash a dog whenever it is needed after you have taken the dog out to the park is a must if your just going for a walk to the shops don't but if your planning on taking the dog too some far away outing definitely wash the dog after as they pick up all sorts of things.

I am a breeder and a vet tech and I bathe my dogs once a week and the vet that I work for recommends once a week baths as well. Any more than that will dry your dog's skin - be sure to use a good conditioning shampoo also.

depends on your dog's environment. our dogs are suburbanites, so they need bathing every 2-3 weeks. they also sleep with us, which is a consideration. no stinky dogs allowed. and there's always the spring thaw with mud, or the extra special something died out in the yard and i've got to roll in it scene, so basically it is on a as need basis. we use baby shampoo. we also still call our pups (beagles) "stinky dogs" cause beagles will get into everything. those darn doggies.....

Only going from personal experience and advice from a vet, you should wash your dog fortnightly or when dirty. Dogs don't sweat and so only start to get smelly when they are getting dirty. MAKE SURE you use a vet recommended shampoo or soap as dogs have quite sensitive skin. If dog not used to having baths be prepared to have a bath yourself. (lol)

When he starts smelling like a dog, if he's a house dog. Otherwise, once a month is okay unless he gets into mud or worse..

It depends really. If the dog is dirty, in the mud, woods, sprayed by a skunk (It happens), you need to bathe them more often.
On a regular, day to day basis, probably once every 7-10 days for general cleanliness and protection of their skin.

yes so they don't stink. But if you bath them too often, they will get dry skin, so don't bath them like every week. Do it every 3-5 weeks. Or once every month. Did you know that labs skin it water resinstent. Not saying that their skin is water proof. Water proof means they can't get wet. Hope my info/facts helped so hahahahahahahahahahaha *evil laughing*
