Im confused by some of the things that have been said on here. Do some people really think that Christians kill people? Because if that was the case then that person would NOT be a Christian because Christianity is all about love. I guess I just come from an area where people like Christians. Even when others don’t believe the same thing, the Christians where I live are known for being great people. What do people think of when they hear the word Christian? I dont get whats not to like, even if you dont believe the same thing. The Bible talks about loving your neighbor, respecting your parents, being a good example... Whats so bad about these things? I do know that there are some people who claim to be Christian yet think they are better than others and are greedy or judgmental.. thats not a Christ like spirit though. Is that what people think of when they think of Christians? I also know Christians are thought of to be stupid but I dont care what people think. Finally do people realize that Christians have been and are being killed for their beliefs? In fact there is a book called Jesus Freaks that tells about some. Jesus even said in the Bible that His followers would be persecuted for it. Anyway, what do you think?

I think that many of the people who say they are Christians are using the religion to preach hatred to others. They make it seem like they are oh-so-perfect and never do wrong, when they are blind to their own faults and sins.
Not all Christians are this way, but I have yet to meet a true Christian.

On another note, Christianity has a past filled with intolerance and blood. Those claiming to believe in the religion have spread from one nation to another, killing in the name of Christianity and in the name of God.
Something to think about.

I believe that if a person is truly a Christian, they will have no such desire as to kill people. First of all, the Word of God tells us that if we become a Christian, then we become a totally new creature; new desires, new opinions, new in every way. (2 Cor. 5:17) However, Christians will not live perfect lives. They will still make mistakes in many different ways. I am a Christian, and I know that I make plenty of mistakes. And when I realize that I have done such, I turn to Jesus and ask for his forgiveness. A true Christian will not think that they are better than others; nor will they be greedy or judgmental. Jesus said that a tree is known by it's fruit. The same for a Christian. Just watch how a person lives their life for a little while, and you can tell whether or not a person is truly a Christian or not. And as far as what people thinks, I agree with you completely. I am going to make every attempt to live my life in a way that pleases Jesus; regardless of what other people think about it. And it is a true fact that Christians are being persecuted in many different parts of the world; just as Jesus said that many would be. And I would much rather be a Jesus freak, than be anything that the devil wants me to be. And I believe that Jesus is returning very soon. So all that I know to tell people, is to just hold on. We will never be persecuted as severely as Jesus was persecuted. And He went through it all, because He loves every one of us.

I'm more confuse about Christians religion. As I read a lot of the comment on these Yahoo Answer, there is a lot of Christians which they claim to be a Christians, at the same time they asking or answering with stupid idea and knowledge. And sometime no respect at all about their religion.

In other way too many version, too many bible, then which one to follow. You asking the true origin of Christian, then which one it is? Is it Catholic? Or others. I'm also sick for those people who not respect for Jesus.

I'm a Muslim, even though I not believe Jesus is the God but still I have a respect for the Jesus. Not for some Christian keep saying stupid about your Jesus. So weird!

Peace.

I am a 'Christian' . I rather be called a Jesus Freak. I have went to school for missions and ministry, I have served in many areas...but recently my life took a turn and i have been dealing with it. My family through the last few years have been very hurt by 'Christians'. It seems like they flee from you when your going through a rough time....well not all of them. Recently we were working for a church and then started hitting some really tough times in our life...no one was there when we needed them, they all ran like we had the plague. There were a few that hung around for a small amount of time. Now they are judging us for not pursuing them anymore. We tried. Everyone too busy or because they are judging us they wont even fellowship with us anymore...it really hurts! I am not perfect either. I wish we would all wake up and really live Jesus ya know?.......anyways......When i hear the word Christian i think...Are you really...and do you know what a true Christian is? Maybe we need a new name...Christian i think means little Christ, we did not find this in the Bible, however we do find that Christ said we would do greater things than even he did. I don't want to be a little Christ I want to be a giant Christ like Jesus Freak!!! I want to truly show his love....although sometimes emotions get in the way and then we revert to flesh....one day...it will pass away.....Keep being Real! -Bristow

Catholicism is a strictly-defined faith. If the Pope says you aren't Catholic, then you are not Catholic. It doesn't matter what you believe, because the definition of "Catholic" is determined by the Pope.

There is no "pope" of Christianity as a whole. There is no absolute authority, and no standard definition of what a person must do in order to call himself a Christian. If somebody says he's a Christian, there is no one alive who is qualified to contradict him; to do so demonstrates a truly profound level of moral arrogance. Saying that someone is not a "real" Christian, is the same as claiming to know for certain that they will spend eternity in hell, while you will definitely go to heaven. You don't know, it's not your call, so shut up.

Some of the people who call themselves Christians seem to make more noise than all the rest combined, as if saying it loudly and frequently makes up for any lack of action. In 2005, the top priority on the Christian Coalition's legislative agenda was making Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy into permanent laws. Personally, I tend to think that if Jesus were alive today, he probably wouldn't be spending his time creating a tax policy to benefit rich people, but what do I know?

Incidentally, Islam is a very peaceful religion. Unfortunately, a very small minority has caused most of the world to think otherwise.

Er - - - you have not heard of the crusades then? Northern Ireland? Africa? South America. Just who did kill all those natives then? Who killed all the native americans? I bet you think it was the Muslims!

Jesus, God, the bible and a lot of Christian teaching is about love and forgiveness. Why then are Christians dictatorial, judgmental, self serving egotists?

Try looking at athiests. You will finfd the vast majority far more moral, accepting, peacefull and non judgemental! Try almost any other faith and you will find the same.

Sadly modern day Christians have lost all touch with the realisty of their religion and have become exreme bigots!!!

When I hear the word "Christian" applied to a person, I think that person is a willing slave to a controlling and self-serving organization.

Some interesting things said by prominent Christians:
"As to the common people, ... one has to be hard with them and see that they do their work and that under the threat of the sword and the law they comply with the observance of piety, just as you chain up wild beasts." - Martin Luther
"When I said during my presidential bid that I would only bring Christians and Jews into the government, I hit a firestorm. 'What do you mean?' the media challenged me. 'You're not going to bring atheists into the government? How dare you maintain that those who believe in the Judeo-Christian values are better qualified to govern America than Hindus and Muslims?' My simple answer is, 'Yes, they are.'" - Pat Robertson, The New World Order, p. 218
"As regards the individual nature, woman is defective and misbegotten, for the active power of the male seed tends to the production of a perfect likeness in the masculine sex; while the production of a woman comes from defect in the active power." - Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica
"It is indeed better (as no one ever could deny) that men should be led to worship God by teaching, than that they should be driven to it by fear of punishment or pain; but it does not follow that because the former course produces the better men, therefore those who do not yield to it should be neglected. For many have found advantage (as we have proved, and are daily proving by actual experiment), in being first compelled by fear or pain, so that they might afterwards be influenced by teaching, or might follow out in act what they had already learned in word." - Augustine, Treatise on the Correction of the Donatists

well, it depends on the "christian". Simply being something doesn't make you good or bad. you can't generlize a whole bunch of people and be accurate. I think some of them give the rest a bad name. And on either side, they both think they are giveing each other a bad name.... but respecting your parents isn't always a good thing. Parents being just another group of people. Not all of them need or should be respected. Just because you forced someone to exist, doesn't mean you should be respected. Some people are ******* idiots. Some of those people are parents, not only is it not a big loss if they aren't respected, but in many cases they shouldn't be.

well i think that many ppl act like they really believe in Christianity but they just don't get it real Christians don't kill ppl they believe in love and peace... some ppl lose their way and do things they will later regret... 4 that all Christians r blamed 4 as if its their fault that some Christians make wrong choices causing them 2 be farther away from god then other ppl r. Some ppl even make fun of those who believe that is just fear of sth that the human mind can't conceive

Dear txgirl, you are talking like those Muslim guys. They say that those who kill are not Muslims. But the fact is that those Muslims who kill consider themselves "more Muslim" than other Muslims. Likewise it is not that the Christians who kill do not consider themselves Christian.
Here is an important thing. Every time the world criticizes all Muslims for the act of some Muslims, other Muslims cry hoarse that Islam does not preach killing and that those who kill are not Muslims. You are saying something similar about Christians who kill.
