Yom Kippur (יום כיפור yom kippūr) is the Jewish holiday of the Day of Atonement. It falls on the tenth day of the Hebrew month of Tishri. The Bible calls the day Yom Hakippurim (Hebrew, "Day of the Atonements"). It is one of the Yamim Noraim (Hebrew, "Days of Awe"). The day is commemorated with a 25-hour fast and intensive prayer. It is considered the holiest day of the Jewish year.

The Jewish Day of Atonment, where Jews fast and pray, and G-d forgives people who repent, and finishes judging those who were too evenly matched to be judged 10 days before. Inthe time of the Temple, there was an elaborate ceremony, which is now retold in poetic liturgy during the day. Prayer generally lasts 2 hours the night before (it goes from sundown to sundown), 7 in the day, and 3 in the afternoon-evening. Holiest and happiest day of the year.

The brother of Radiohead singer Thom Yorke.
I knew a Tom Kippur once in a dream I had. He ended up lost at sea, but he was a helluva nice guy who could really hold his liquor. His wife always smelled like fish, and I wonder if she was a silkie. I guess it's none of my business if she had a tail once instead of feet. She disappeared mysteriously after his death. Rumor has it, she walked out into the ocean, and reunited with her mer-folk. I'd like to think that maybe her and Tom are together know in the world under the sea.
