It is allowed but some denominations are strict about alcohol being consumed. It all depends. I know a lot of Christians who drink, but most of them don't drink to get drunk.

you heard wrong. If wine was not offered at the Lord's supper in New Testament times, how was it possible for some to get drunk, which IS what is forbidden in Christianity

No, it is allowed in the majority of Christian denomination as long as it does not get used in excess.
Only a few denominations have rules banning its entire use.

You heard incorrectly. Jesus made water into wine. It would be hard to argue that He wasn't okay with alcohol. What He most likely wouldn't be okay with is regular drunkenness. Jesus wouldn't be for anything that is destroying your life or taking you away from God.

Jesus himself changes water to wine at the wedding at Canaa. So I would suppose that there is not an injunction on alcohol.

My knee jerk response was "tell that to the Catholics." But, really, not all Christian denominations require abstinence from alcohol.

Not true..in some religions..ie baptist, pentecost, it's not allowed. In others, it's perfectly fine in moderation.
