Murder is murder - it doens't matter if it happens in a war zone. If a civilian comitted a premeditated murder, they would be subject to the same sentence. If they are guilty, then they should be punished accordingly.

If they were civilians then they would get the death penalty. The only reason they shouldn't is if they proved beyond a reasonable doubt that these individuals were under serious mental duress at the time these murders happened. Sounds like some soldiers got on a power trip.

It's really sad. I think the guys down there are just doing when they're instructed to do and often someone pins their own mistakes on some one else. Being done there is enough to make someone go crazy and get paranoid so i'd hope they get counseling rather than any harsh punishment.

Here is my take on this. You take a normal guy, put him in the military, send him to Iraq where he is subjected to poor living conditions, away from family, in a foreign country where he is hated, sleep deprived and then you add to that seeing Iraqis and Americans killed and continuously standing a hair away from being killed yourself, and I say, there are people out there that are not in their right mind when they do things like this. Because of this circumstance, they are NOT like all criminals.

Do I think they should be punished, yes, death penalty no.....

If found guilty the accused should be hung by the neck until dead. This should be done within twenty four hours of sentencing. The accused should be denied the dignity of a firing squad.

It sure is interesting how much these people over there don't seem to bat an eye when they kill each other and their children. But when our military does something insane amongst an insane enemy we should be executed and brought to justice? HELL NO !. These guys should only be jailed as long as Saddam lives. Besides who would know if we faked it anyway.

I feel comfortable knowing the Army looked at this case at every possible angle to save these soldiers. I'm sure this was an extremely difficult decision to make, but the evidence must have been too overwhelming to come to any other conclusion. God bless them all.

No death penalty. What the soldiers did was horrible, but they were incited to that level of violence because of the war and because of all they have been exposed to. Innocent lives are lost during war on both sides. Prison time and time in a mental health facility would be more appropriate.

I am against the death penalty and certainly this. You guys have no idea what its like being in a war.

If it was a fair hearing - then that's what they get.

And what about it? Yes, they shouldn't have done it (if they did) but the military is not perfect. Sometimes **** happens. Just like in regular life.

Would you be posting this about 4 civilians who did this crime? I doubt it -so get over your stupid vendetta against the military.
