I'd like to go out and see/meet people, but it's a holiday weekend. Not many folks around. What do you suggest?

Go to sleep early tonight so that you can get up in the morning and go to church--the place to meet the good people.

Go to a country and western bar where they have one of those bulls you can ride. That is what my brother does and he gets lots of dates. Or get a boat and take it to the lake and ask some cute girl would you like to drive my boat while I water ski.
Before you know it a bunch of people are over there helping you enjoy the boat. My brother calls his boat the chick magnet.

try to find a place that having a holiday party or something and meet people at a hliday event or do it a different day when there is no holiday.
