just had 2 cars repoed @ 1 in the afternoon, on saturday of labor day weekend. (so we couldn't get anyone at the bank) we knew we were behind, but have been in continual contact with the bank, and actually just paid one payment on each on thursday. just wanted to know if the repo men were, by law, supposed to show me proof of permission or what?

no they don't show you any proof while they were doing the repo, normally they will sneak in and take it without your knowing. ( it is much safer for them)

Repossession laws requires documents to be shown by the seller and the buyer with the bank in order that possession of the property will be valid.
