My cat wont even look at himself when I put him in front of the mirror. It seems he looks for a second as if thinking "i don't want to look at myself, i'll turn away now"

He thinks at first there is a challenge. But then says hey it must be a picture. Cats wont stare each other in a mirror. They are not humans.

LeeBoy my cat doesn't care about mirrors either. He does like movement related things on computer and also TV. Seeing him 'watch' tv is a real gigglefest for me. I find tv boring but my hubby watches a lot. Hubby and cat both male so it might be a male bonding thing.

He probably doesn't want you to see him react. Cats are very "cool" about this sort of thing, and don't want to appear foolish. Sometimes I'll catch my tortoiseshell cat admiring herself in a mirror, just for a moment.

Cats don't really see themselves in a mirror. they don't have that kind of a mind. They don't think it's another cat either because cats live through their noses. They don't smell another cat, all they smell is themselves.
so big deal.

They like what they see always. Mirrors are as images inside and they learn from cats, instead of images reflected as humans learn.

My cats just look at themselves for a minute, just like they are checking their hair, then go about their business.... Unless I stand there with them & tell them how pretty they are :-)

None of my cats react to their reflection either. Maybe they know what they look like so it doesn't surprise them. =]

Cats are pretty smart animals. Your cat probably knows that its its reflection.

Yea, I have wondered that too, I mean she sees ME in the mirror, I guess she knows that it is her. Maybe because they are not vain like humans? They don't care what they look like?

It's weird, isn't it? My cat often sits on the bathroom sink and looks and looks--it's so funny to watch!!
