Here are 2 sites that have some definite information about obtaining a berth on a cargo ship; try these (or try to find others offering similar service). Or another way to travel more might be through trying to face your fear with help from an advisor of some sort - a psychotherapist or something.

There are course you can follow to get you over the fear of flying, a lot of airlines offer it, and they really work! If you don't want to go that far, I can tell you flying is the safest way of travelling. When you board, tell the flight attendant of your fear of flying, ask to see the cockpit (you can, and my experience is that a lot of people actually lost their fear after seeing how and who is flying you. Also you can ask your Doctor to prescribe you a medication to calm your self... Good luck!!!

You'd be in a lot more danger on a ship. Statistically speaking you'd be a lot safer on a plane. Of course, the saving form of transport is rollercoasters, but there isn't one to America yet.

#1, why do you want to come to America? Where are you coming from? If you're from Middle East, beware of prejudice. I personally am not prejudice, just wary. Fear of flying can be overcome by Dramamine; wonderful stuff. Happy flying, hon.

Go to your doctor. Tell him what you are doing, he can probably give you a sedative to help you relax on a plane. My dad does that when he has to fly. He still has to get on the plane, then take the sedative, but at least during long flights he is relaxed/sleeping.

have something to keep you occupied during the flight. aside from takeoff and landing, it feels like your standing still on the ground. dont sweat it. plus america is by far the best country you will ever visit, because you can experience the best of every country in america and more.
